Hey THR Crew,

What's the front page on this round??

I came into this lever action big bore yesterday c/o my best friend. It used to belong to his Dad and now it's mine and I really want to fire it with him. You know, get him excited about shooting. Who knows, I may gift it back to him.

I have already ordered up new brass and bullets - Sierra 200 fp and Hornady 220 fp to start seeing how this thing will perform.

I have looked into a couple of different powders; RE-7, IMR, Win, which are listed in most of "the books".

My questions are:

1) How's it's recoil 1=22LR, 10= Worst recoil imaginable

2) Looks like it is good for short to medium range? How accurate??

3) Hunting; will it terminate any animal on the lower 48 states?

3) How does the brass hold up, how many times can you fill 'em up again??
(I know... I know... it depends on how hot the load, but any realistic idea?)

Thanks, Crew

1. more than a 35Rem and less than an 8mm-06

2. 150 yards is ideal, and pushing it to 200 can be done; 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards.

3. Shirley! You jest! Since a 22LR will terminate anything on the NA continent

3. Gee, I thought 4 followed 3 and the first sign of insanity is answering your own questions.

i only know the answer to the first question.

my dad had one and it kikked like a mule, of course i was a skinny 16 year old when he passed and i never got to shoot it after that. it was back in 81'. he also had a 30-40krag and it felt about the same.

which to me felt likie a howitzer.

Kool...

Thanks, MMC... I can always use another good elk gun.

Shoney, I knew it!!! I am insane LOL... Thanks for reminding me!!!

Bryan, Thanks Mate

I must admitt, I am getting excited about this darn rifle!!!

Cheers...

actually i am wrong again as usual, lol.

talking to my brother this morning about the rifles our dad had when we were kids, he told me the 375 wasnt a 375 win. it was a 375 h&h magnum.

he laughed at me and said

"the reason you remember it kicking super hard is because it kicked super hard."

dont you hate it when it seems like everything you post comes back to bite you, lol, sorry.

LGB: what do you consider a 10?

Have you seen the videos of the 577 Tyrannosaur? 750 gr slug at 2600fps and 11,000+ energy.

Or consider the 700 Nitro express which can push a 1000 gr bullet at over 2500fps with energy well over 14,000.

Or how about the lil'dinky 460 Weatherby with a 500 gr slug at 2600fps.

I had one. Wish I never sold it. I didn't think it kicked that bad at all. About like a .308. Very accurate. I could hit paper plates at 100yds standing all day with the factory sites. I've got a double cavity 300gr mould for it if you're interested. You have to cut the cases back slightly though, as they are a touch too long for the 94.
