$5.00 bucks a box is an excellent price.

If they aren't Reloads of unknown quality & safety.

Those would not be a good deal if he gave them too you.

Just like RC said, as long as they are not some mystery reloads, it's a steal

He He! :D

You mean he steals them somewhere.

Nobody can get centerfire ammo for $5 bucks a box, even a dealer buying wholesale.

Seriously, there is something going on there. On the other hand, I am sure you could make a quick profit reselling them to us.

For factory ammo that would have been a good price in 2008 before the ammo scare and price jumps. Now days it's hard to find a box of 50 rounds of .38 Special for less than $15 let alone $5. You are getting $300 worth of ammo for only $100. (not that I think 1000 .38 specials are worth $300)

Greetings
You would have to cast your own bullets and get the lead for free to be able to load for that price. If it was me I would jump on that deal every time it was available.

In the late 90's I had a Highway Patrol connection, and could get them for $3-$4 per 50. They were not the best, I used them for plinking only.

That was the going rate in the 90's though.

I do not believe even a police contract can get new factory ammo for $5.00 a box today.

You really shouldn't spread it around that he is selling ammo he got from a police contract. that ammo is meant for them only so it's best you stop telling anyone about it. You could have checked any store to see that price was lower than can be had anywhere.

This deal sounds like somebody at the P.D. is skimming some ammo off each order.
I learned a long time ago that if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
If purchasing this, I'd be concerned about receiving stolen property.
