    BUY A 9MM!!!

That is the quickest and easiest and cheapest way to fix any problems pertaining to the 380 ammo situation.

I just checked Starline and they are back ordered until April 15.

I just got 10,000 primers I ordered from Powder Valley last April.

I have some, not sure of the count though. I don't shoot .380 and generally just leave on the range.

i hate posts like this...:fire: these guys almost ruin the whole forum. and they're always the first to reply, what's that about?

you can ask your local ranges if you can pick through their brass. just watch out for the very similar 9x18 makarov cases.

I got so desperate I started seriously contemplating making .380 brass from some other cartridge case ... I'm still looking for that magic cartridge.

it is tough to come by these days. You might want to start checking starline and the swap/trade sections of forums. thats probably your best bet. Even better if you and a friend need some, and can split the cost of new brass from a company (again, starline comes to mind).

if you had a reamer of the correct dimensions, you could probably make them from .223 remington shells. They are very close.

What is the cause of the shortage? The rash of new pistols in that chambering? Lack of popularity?

I was at Acaademy the other day here and they had about 10 boxes of Winchester white box. I went back later ion the day to pick up a couple just to have for practice and they were gone. Although at Woods N Water here they have a good bit of Federal Hydra-Shock and Hornady critical defense. I have a few boxes already of SD ammo though. I want go out and practise with my new LCP.

At least I have my 9mm though. Much cheaper to shoot.

They are very close and use the same shellholder IIRC. That would be some wicked strong .380 brass.

    :)

You should have been at the Yanton South Dakota gun show 30th & 31st I bought 100 pieces (didn't need a lot) from 3 Lees and another dealer had a bag of 500 Cor-Bon brass for $75. I also bought 100 95gr. FMJ bullets from 3 Lees and found another 300 Sierra 95gr. FMJ's from some dealer that just wanted to get rid of them, got them for $30. Try giving 3 Lees Co's a call 308-381-8285 or www.3lees.com and see if he can get you some. LM

The shortage is the INCREASE in popularity. LCP, P238, P3AT, PPK, PK380 TCP738, just to name a few.

Glad I was able to squirrel away about 700 rounds.

Have a thread or advice to substantiate this (not that I don't believe you, I just want details). I am thinking of giving it a shot. ;)

Keep checking places like ammobrasstrader.com and the reloading forum here on THR.

    Or go here: http://www.bluestarbrass.com/catalog/ofpbrass.htm
    $65/500 for once-fired, $90 for brandy-new StarLine brass.

It comes up used, but you have to be quick. I can't believe I sold 500+ pieces of .380 brass for $20 a bit over year ago. I had just sold my POS K-T P3AT and had no need for it. Then I bought an LCP. Now I have whatever brass I have fired through it...at least 250 rounds.

MV, perhaps I am missing something (or you linked the wrong thing), but I don't see where it mentions forming .380ACP out of .223Rem. brass.

Yes, please submit any details on using .223 brass. I have plenty of that lying around.

I have a case trimmer for the final stage, but how do I start out?
