380acp is a good round for those not fans of 9mm muzzle blast and the recoil
of the larger calibers.with the right hollow points and placement it will end the festivitys as well as any handgun would.

handguns are weapons of convenience not choice.none of them are as good as a 20 guage and up shotgun or modern centerfire rifle.

ive used film cannisters before for oddball calibers like .32 s&w long.but when i carried a p3at i used a spare mag in a vinyl pocket cover of my own making.

one day we wont be able to use a"real gun"due to age or disability.baretta used to make a 380acp model 86 which was a blowback pistol with a tip up barrel.you could load a magazine and chamber without operating the slide and cock the hammer for a light trigger pull.wish they'd bring it back.

happily i can still carry and use my glock26 effectively.

This is why I keep my ideas to myself...to many but holes in this world....:banghead:...jcb

Older posters will remember the film canisters as containers that held any number of "survival pieces" in our packs years ago. It was more to keep them in one place than to protect them from immersion.

The problem with baggies is that they aren't designed to hold metallic objects, and will easily tear, allowing small objects to migrate into your gear, and water resistance to equal zero.

When packing, a small container holding a re-load for a revolver is nice. A film container, with a rubber band around it, is good, as are some other small plastic containers. The idea of needing a blindingly fast reload in the wild is a bit far-fetched. An animal attack that absorbs five or six rounds, and still keeps coming is going to be on you before you can reload, unless you're Jerry Miculek. Against humans, the same thing pretty much applies.

As for the .380, to each their own. No pistol will reliably work. Better hang onto a rifle if you're really serious about self-defense.

who carries a 380 in the first place?
a BUNCH of us carry a 380! why do you think the Ruger LCP is selling so well! i know it is not the 1 shot stopper that our 45's are, but there is a bunch of places you CAN conceal a 380 that you could not conceal a 45. as for the 35mm film can goes, good idea. i used a similar idea. i scarfed up a couple of flip top M&M's containers from the kids. it holds way more that a 35mm can will, still easilly carried/stashed, and there is (at this time) an unlimited supply of them at any candy counter. plus the kids really like it when you say "suprise!" plus if you drop it in front of people, they have no clue there is something in there besides candy. if anybody ever asks for an m&m, i just say i have "medicine" in there. not a lie, it is just a different type of "medicine" than they are thinking of!
