3inch Revolver Bed Side Companion – Bump In The Night

Both great choices but as a loyal S&W man I would go with the model 65. Besides I have a 65 with 4" barrel and its a smooth operator.

Based on only those two particular guns, I would take the Kimber because I would want the ability to cock the hammer manually. If the Smith had its normal hammer, it would be the choice.

If you only have those 2 then if go with the Smith.

As an earlier poster pointed out, big guns for at home with as much capacity as you can get.

While I really enjoy revolvers, I opted for a semi with 20 round mag.

Sorry to answer this way but neither. 686+ or 627. More ammo.

No reason to limit yourself to a smaller gun for home defense.

Not everyone is a big fan of .357 revolvers with more than a 6-round cylinder.

I'm not, personally. I am perfectly happy with a traditional 3" GP100. YMMV, of course.

Between those two, probably the S&W.

For many years when I was first starting out (and couldn't afford all that much in the way of handguns), a S&W Model 10 with a 4" pencil barrel was my go-to gun for home defense (along with a 3 D-Cell Streamlight flashlight).

I'm a S&W fan, atleast their older makes.

So to answer the question, it depends on when the M65 was made.
The older pinned & recessed would take a nanosecond to elicit a response.
An 80s or 90s 65 would still be my choice.
The newest S&W iteration - nah - I'd take the Kimber.

Yep, and that’s cool. Fortunately they make plenty of six shooters.

But to me more ammo is better than less, and a full-size gun will be easier to shoot. I love that we have so many options.

LOL, I shot the kimber after making this video and it is tough, though the weight and size of the S&W seem to make it ideal. The same as the weight and size of the kimber making it ideal for carry.

I have quite a few revolvers from .22 to .44 mag, but elect to have this S&W 3913 on my night stand. first shot double action(like a revolver) and the rest single action and with left & right hand hammer drop safety lever. for me a quicker reload if needed in the dark with the extra magizing.

I would be happy with either one. However the S&W with the night sight would have the edge for bed time use.

Between the two I want the Kimber BUT ONLY because it has DA/SA capability if the 65 wasn't neutered then I'd choose that one. In reality I have my shoulder holster with my 625 performance center and 24 moonclips filled with semi wadcutters to typical ACP velocity of around 825, and the wife has a M and P 2.0 compact with three mags of Winchester hollow points. Of course all that is only secondary to the 12 ga buck shot. My brother in law who lives with us (he's 15) has a 20 ga Mossberg with a shortened barrel loaded with number three buck and he can use my model 19 Smith if things truly get to the point where he is needing a handgun. I think I'm all set.
