Does anyone know the dimensions, or can provide a link to the dimensions of a 9mm and .45 XD 4" service models? I want to compare the dimensions of the 2. Thanks

Hmmmm I just checked the downloadable PDF format XD catalog from their website... Interesting that they don't have the width available in the catalog - the have the weight (loaded/empty) and barrel length, but that's it!

From XDTalk XD .45 ACP Size thread
Bottom of slide: 26mm/1.02in.
Top of slide: 23mm/0.90in.
Top of slide to bottom of mag: 140mm/5.51in.
Grip width at magwell bottom: 28mm/1.10in.
Slide length: 182mm/7.16in

Here's the dimensions of my XD45 Compact:
Overall height with 10 round compact mag: 4 7/8"
Overall length: 7 1/8"
Grip width at magwell: 1 3/16
Grip length at magwell: 2 1/8"

My numbers are slightly rounded using a grade-school ruler. Sorry, I don't have a XD-9 Service anymore. Hope this helps

rlh2005, from the dimensions provided on XDtalk, it seems the XD is only a shade larger than a 1911. Im measuring my Springer GI right now, the slide is 7 5/8" long, the hieght from top of slide to bottom of magwell is 5 3/8", and the top of slide thickness is just under an inch. With that in mind a 4" service model wouldnt be extremely difficult to carry concealed, with the right holster. I wish I could handle one, but none of my local shops have the 4" model in stock.

Additional comments:

- The difference between the XD-45 Service and XD-45 Compact 4" is the grip height. Everything else is the same.

- I owned a XD-9 Service and sold it two weeks after getting my XD-45 Compact. The XD-45C fits my Hume JIT, Tucker Texas Heritage, High Noon Hidden Ally, and Blackhawk SERPA holsters the same as the XD-9 Service.

- I also own an XD-9 Subcompact. Here are its measurements:
Overall height with 10-round compact mag: ~4 5/8"
Overall length: 6 3/16"
Grip width at magwell: a hair under 1 3/16" -- same as XD-9 Service
Grip length at magwell: just over 2 1/16" -- same as XD-9 Service

- Side by side, there is no (or extremely minute) difference between the grip widths of the XD-45C and the XD-9SC. There is a visible difference between the grip lengths.

- I need a Pierce grip extension on the XD-9SC's 10-round mags for my pinky to feel comfortable. I don't need one for the XD-45C. That's a good thing since Pierce hasn't released an extension of XD-45 yet.

- I found the XD-9 Service easy enough to conceal. Like you said, it came down to the right setup.
