does anyone have any information on the possibility of converting one of the kel-tec, hipoint, or any of the lower-end carbines, chambered in .40s&w into 10mm? I think this would be just about optimal for a carbine.

Anyone tried it? Anyone have enough expertise to comment on the feasibility? I can't afford paying $2000 for a 10mm mp-5 clone.

Conversions

Magazine size for the loooger 10mm may be the trick, Pressures are the same for .40 and 10mm but powder capacity is what gets the numbers on the chrono.
The bad news is that even the high dollar H&K MP-10 doesn't live long using full power 10mm and so I doubt the mentioned weapons will hold up either.
I plumb wore out a converted H&K USP .40 with factory 10mms:what:

I respectfully disagree, maximum chamber pressures are the same for all practical intents and purposes in 40 and 10mm. 10mm is capable of creating more gas volume at that pressure than 40 is, that is where the additional power comes from.

Magazine length might be a problem, springing it properly might be a problem, dwell time might be a problem, things like that could certainly be issues. There is always someone that tries something the first time, whether they succeed or not.

I saw a website where a guy tried to turn his P220 into a 10mm. One of the things I remember was that he had magazine problems and he also had to mill out the ejection port. Probably a lot more wrong with it than just that. I think if you want a 10mm you'll probably have to buy a gun that was made for 10mm.

Reminds me...

Anyone remember a carbine from the 90s chambered in 10mm that fed from the side like a Sten?

Wonder what that was. I'm sure it probably went away w/ the AWB.
