Not BP but these were 480.1 grs on my scale powered by 10.5grs of Unique, going to shoot these thru my Sharps Monday.
I have 4 different loads to try out of accuracy plus 40 rounds of BP just because its the right thing to do :)

    Good looking Bullets there!

    Are you casting these yourself?

    I used to reload 45-70 a long time ago...used a blunt-end 450-something Grain Bullet, and BP.

    Such a likable old Cartridge...

I wonder if 'Trailboss' would be worth thinking about for this?

No these were given to me to try out, I offered to trade lead for bullets.
Everything else I have are either 300 gr or 405 gr FP.

I see Trailboss listed for 45-70, I'm really watching the cup I want to keep it well belong 29,000 which is max for my Sharps.

    Ahhhhh...

Mine was/is a late 'Cadet' Model Springfield Trap-Door...strictly BP far as I was concerned, though light Smokeless would prolly be alright.

Have not shot it in 20 odd years.

They were Wrought Iron Barrels I think...

    TomADC,
What mold do you use for the 300gr bullet. I need to get a bullet for my TD carbine for use in the SASS Plainsman matches. Lyman used to make a 300gr mold. The 405 gr bullets kick a bit too much for me as we are shooting rapid fire off hand 4-10 shots in a row.

    TomADC,
I have recently emailed him (a week or two ago) and gotten no answer. He sells out of a house in Missoula, MT. I bought a bunch of shotgun reloading components from him once. From what I can tell, he no longer sells molds. At least I can't bring up any from his website. He used to have a bunch listed a few years ago. Oh well.
