I'm having a difficult time finding 45 ACP ammo pretty much anywhere, but especially online. Every online site I go to says they are sold out. For instance, Midway USA has almost zero 45 ACP ammo available, everything is out of stock. Am I just not looking hard enough, or can anyone point me to an online seller that actually has 45 ACP in stock? thanks for your help...

Maybe try going into a store like cabelas, bass pro, or sportsmans. I think most have a purchase limit to keep some in stock. I've seen .45 this week in a sportsmans.

And I did see a box of 100 Amer Eagle (IIRC) on the Bass Pro website this morning 49.99 (ouch).

Try this site:
https://www.ammograb.com/
There is at least one other that does the same thing. You can put in the ammo you are looking for and it shows some that is at that time available. Right now is of course a rough time but check the sites a couple times a day. The ammo keeps coming in of course but is often gone soon after the sites that sell it post it.

As has already been stated, the public has created a shortage like it was done with toilet paper. I highly recommend that you go to a website that you are familiar with and sign up to get notified when any vendor has your type of ammo in stock. Be prepared to buy immediately any number of boxes and have money set aside for it. I guarantee that by the time you see your notification and act on it their inventory will be sold out again. Also be prepared to pay a premium for it. I already see prices 100% marked up. Also be prepared to wait months to get notified. So if you see something online you need buy it.

The ammo drought may be a rough one this go around. If Biden wins, right leaning people are going to feel like he's going to start rounding up guns (just like they thought about Obama getting elected). If Trump wins, there is going to be a lot of very grumpy people. Grumpy people are going to yell on the TV and people watching the TV are going to feel threatened and buy up even more.

I see only a couple of ways to deal with the current climate: Pay the premium on scarce ammo. Snap up what reloading compounds you can find and start rolling your own in limited quantity. Start shooting "weird" stuff like .32 or black powder. Get into long range rifle shooting over handguns. Just don't shoot for awhile.

I saw some 230gr and 200gr 45acp at Academy this week AND at regular price and 185gr 40S&w, no 9mm.
I have found that Academy is one of the stores that never marks up the price of ammo during shortages. Years ago I would by their rimfire at regular prices, and this was the cci 100 round pack for $7.99, everybody else wold sell it at a 200% mark up.

thanks everyone for your links and suggestions, I've bought some ammo based on your links and I will check out a few more retailers to see if they have anymore 45 ACP. The prices are high, then you add shipping and tax and the prices go up even more for online purchases. But as others have suggested, it's going to be this way for a while so you gotta buy when you get a chance.

Hoping everyone here stays safe and is having a wonderful summer, despite the things going on all around us

If you don’t already reload, now might be a good time to get yourself set up to be ready to go once things smooth out in a year or two.....just sayin.

Haven’t looked to see if presses are available at the moment.....

I know it doesn’t help with getting trigger time now, but it easily pays for itself in not much time.

The press's, dies and such are "harder" to find than normal but they are still out there. For anyone who does not yet know how to roll their own they certainly should. Get a press and the rest now. Primers, powder, bullets will take some time and searching but they too of course come back. The best part is once you have all the stuff, learning strait wall pistol stuff is dead simple to learn. Then next panic, there is always another, you can be ready to go.

Absolutely agree that handloading is the way to go if you have a press & dies, or have access to these.

I bought a 1000 rounds a month or two ago when I saw real trouble (meaning shortages and people panic buying) coming. now its super high prices and empty shelves locally and out of stock online.

review the usual places online but check out aimsurplus, grabagun, and some other heavier on frearm type sales places. sometimes they get stock in, but it clears fast. this will pass but first all the political and end of the world stuff has to calm down.

This is what I've been spending my time on. appx. 220 45acp 200gr RNFP and some 45acp 225gr RN. Some will be loaded with AA#2 and some with Ramshot Silhouette.
As a Side Bet I separated out about 200 45acp small primer brass which is now all clean and ready to load if needed.

Suggestions to START getting into reloading at this time are as useless as you can get. I've been reloading for pistol/rifle for almost 15 yrs. It takes a lot of time/effort to gather everything..when the population ISN'T hoarding everything!
Surveying my total ammo/reloading supply cache, I am only concerned with primer supply. Only couple k of each!:(
