I think Ayoob had an article about long distance shooting at silhouettes using duty weapons. I think they were a Glock 23, Walther P99 and a Kimber 1911. IIRC he was able to hit the targets out to 200 yards with most rounds in the mags.

We were doin' it at a 1000 yds with the 45-70's before there were 1911's! Soule sites weren't made for nothing.
I've lobbed them onto 5 gal. buckets at 200- 250 yds...granted not on one shot but it's do-able...and a lot of fun.

When we go out for praire dogs, we always have handguns along, and have great fun lobbing slugs at targets in excess of 500 yards just to see how close we can get.

With a .45, the holdover at such extreme range is in excess of 30 feet.

Eh... why not? My buddy who I work with, who's also a member here, hit a 200 yard shoot'n'see with his Ruger P345. Granted, I was spotting and giving him correction info and we had about 50 rounds to work with.
