.45 ACP Pocket Pistols - Whose got one?

XDS

And I agree with WC. Pocket pistols makes me think of pants pockets and not belt holsters.

Guys,

Pocket pistol is a euphemism for a small framed pistol. It does not have to actually fit in a pocket, and it would not be carried that way. I am talking about small .45 ACP pistols such as the Kahr and others.

Don
Euphemism, or not you are incorrect with your thread title as related to this recent post of your's. A Glock in no shape, form, or fashion comes even close to being a true pocket gun, commonly known as mouse guns.

Regards to smallest frame .45ACP semi-auto handgun maybe the XDs but I cannot say first hand. I've had no malfxn's w/my single-stack Taurus PT745 Millennium Pro.

Have been reading some reviews on the M&P compact 45, the XD compact 45, and the Kahr P45, and am leaning towards advising my friend to look for a Springfield XD compact 45. Of course he no doubt will have a long wait for whatever he decides to go with, as nothing is available at this time. Thanks for the input, guys.

Don
I have an M&P 9c, so I know a 45c ain't a pocket gun, unless you play in the NBA or NFL, LOL!
I have an XDsc40, so I know a 45c ain't a pocket gun, unless speaking strictly of trench coats, ROFLMAO.

*.380 & smaller are true pocket guns

I'd like to see someone try to tote an N frame S&W in a pocket, and make it disappear without printing. I guess Clint Smith is supposed to be the expert, and has come up with a way, but I'd almost have to call B.S. on that one....JMHO.

Wow! Call them what you want, guys, but by this deep in the thread, everybody knows what the thread is about and continuing to arguing about semantics is juvenile. To the guys who gave input about their small .45 ACP semi-autos regardless of what they call them, Thanks.

He has looked at a Glock
Personally, I would not consider either the G30 or G36 to be "pocket pistols" (and I own a G36). The biggest gun I'm willing to pocked carry would be one of the current crop of sub-compact 9mm guns like the Kahr CM9, the Ruger LC9, or the Sig P290.

This .45acp fit very well in jean pockets in it's Mika . It IS a bit heavy tho until you fire off a 230 grain round of +p Ranger  I can do heads well at 7 yards and COMs at 15. Yes itis "tuned" and very reliable. It is an early one FWIW.The tiny Galesi for size comparison itis not carried ever.

On the top 'o the pocket or fully dropped, the AMT works great. Snag free, hard hitting, reliable and safe. Wish I had a couple of them. Now, if I could just get around to fitting some sort of lanyard to it.
This photo is with Leeevi 501s and some of my preferred Wranglesrs work even better - front or back pocket.
Another great thing about these is that they can be relocated discretely as my palm almost completely covers it and an extra mag is less issue than some of the "pocket" knives I carry.

Kahr CW-45 works

Depends on the pocket but my Kahr does fit in the front pants pocket in the right holster

I cant decide between the xds45, taurus pt145, kahr cw45 or the bersa thunderpro 45. I know the bersa is a chunk of steel for iwb, but its supposed to be very reliable. I did shoot a friends xds and was quite impressed. It would be nice to walk into a shop and be able to handle all of them. Gonna have to wait awhile for that to happen.

I carry a S&W M&P 9c with no problems have to move it around a little when you sit down so it don't pinch or poke you and it holds 12 in the mag

I've been carrying a PM45 in my front pocket for about 5 years. Never had a problem, just wear pants with big pockets, I used to wear Carharts but switched to Duluth work pants a couple years back.

I've never been made that I know of, I did have a car sales man acting really strangely once, like he was scared of me. I always wondered if he had made me and just didn't say anything, I was buying a car from him.

I blame all typos on iPhone auto-correct.

I want to thank all of you for your input regarding these small .45 ACP's. I gave my friend the following list to take a serious look at:

Kimber Ultra Carry II 45

Smith & Wesson M&P Compact 45

Springfield XD Compact 45

Kahr P45

Sig P250 Compact 45

His local gun store recommended the Springfield XD Compact .45, and I have to agree.

USSR

I just checked out a Springfield Armory XDs yesterday and all I can say is that it went immediately to the top of my list of must have .45ACP sub-compact autos. Felt great in my hand and the sights came up very quickly for easy aquisition. Currently my two smallest guns in this category are a Colt Officers Model and a New Agent. I would also consider the Kahr P45, or the even smaller PM45, as being a very viable choice in the CCW role.

There really isn't a pocket 45 that I would consider unless your 6'8' 320 lb lineman. The closest is the xds. I have one and love it. But it's a little heavy fully loaded to pocket carry.

I have both the XDs and a Kimber Ultra CDP II. I put a set of slim grips on the Kimber as well as a single sides safety. Those changes made it almost as small as the XDs.

I did a covert conversion on my Kahr CW45 basicly just cut grip frame down to PM45 length and using a PM mag.
