All company's brass will weigh differently and even the same head-stamped brass will vary slightly. Very rarely will brass be uniform in weight, especially across brands. Also, very rarely will anyone use oz as the unit of measure with something so light. Reloaders usually work in grains.

Keeping what ArchAngelCD has covered in mind I weighed 4 random once fired .45 ACP cases and got the following:

Speer 89.7 grains
Federal 86.4 grains
RWS 82.6 grains
CBC 90.4 grains

Total weight = 349.1 grains so 349.1 / 4 = 87.275 grains average weight.

1 grains = 0.00228571429 ounces.

So on average we get 87.275 grains = 0.199485714 ounce.

Pretty useless number as ArchAngelCD points out. My number is based on a random sampling of 4 cases and we can see how much they deviate.

The weight will vary considerably between .45 ACP Large Pistol Primer, and .45 ACP Small Pistol Primer as well. You could come up with a sample weight based on cases from the same manufacturer and primer size, but if you're looking for an overall average weight, I'd bet the +/- margin of error is 5-10 grains.

Going by these numbers, around 400. I have some W-W & Speer 45acp +P cases that weigh close to 100 gr - you can really tell the difference holding one. I've often wondered who had the time to count out cases to make up lots of 1000, 2000 etc. I have buckets full of brass, 9mm, 380, 45, 40, 30-06, 308 and 30 carbine but I am too lazy to count it out to sell, and I don't have an accurate scale to weigh it, so it languishes in the shop. One day...
