A bolt-action would remove the need to fiddle with the gas.

Sounds neat to me. My Ruger 96/44 lever action feeds reliably through a 4 round rotary mag and a 10 round stick mag. So feeding a rimmed cartridge is not a problem. The 99/44 deerfield carbine does it in semi auto just fine too.

I would chamber it in 454 Casull like mentioned above. That way you are able to really hotrod it if needed or desired.

    I’ve got a Winchester M94 Trails End “Legacy” with a 24”bbl.
Shooting 255gr LFN (Lee .452” RFN) over 8.2gr of Universal is just barely subsonic and doesn’t require hearing protection.
In fact, shooting armadillos, the bullet impact is louder than the rifle report.

I wouldn’t even dream of threading the barrel on it!

    45 Raptor in an AR10
    450 BM in an AR15
Either in a bolt action. 450 BM easily loaded subsonic.

These things exist already, they just dont have rims.

    How important is the rim?

A trim bolt action in that 45 Raptor would be nice and handy ...
Could also live with a Rolling Block in any caliber ... I've always had a desire for a rolling block but never found the right one ...

You could use the same barrel and just rechamber to 300bo for a lot cheaper.

Or just get a 77/44 and have it threaded. Or an already threaded Henry X model or Marlin Black.

No way the .454 would work in the AR. Besides the rim issues, it proofs at 90,000psi. The AR10 might work but the .450 essentially already duplicates it without getting nuts with pressures.

There are .50 BMG bolt uppers for ARs. Think it through.

I've already explained why I personally want this caliber.

As others have alluded to, a Ruger 44/77 has possibilities. 44 Mag and 45 Colt have the same rim diameter so the bolt would work with both cartridges without mod. A new barrel would be a fairly straight forward change by a competent gunsmith. The only real challenge would be the magazine but I think you could modify an existing 44 Mag Magazine to feed 45 Colt. Minor expansion of the feed lips to clear the body of the 45 Colt and maybe a new 3D printed center hub/follower to push the rounds. It would not be a cheap project but also not stupid expense if your willing to do some of the work yourself, specifically the magazine.

I have a heavy bull barrelled savage 10 in 30/30 and have built a 110 in 45 win mag before bushmaster was a thing

I can tell you right now. Such a action cartridge combo WILL be a single shot only. No ifs ands or buts

I also have a smle 45acp conversion. It's really only reliable enough in feeding for entertainment purposes only

I have also owned 77/44 and 357 rugers. As much as I love Ruger 77's the revolver cartridge and rimfire ones with a 2 piece bolt all suffered from unparalleled inaccuracy

Considering all options and opinions, I believe that the Savage Scout .450 Bushmaster is what I want.
Short threaded barrel, .45 caliber, adjustable stock, forward scope mount and iron sights.
Only need to add suppressor, dies, bullets, cases and some $$$. Not how this thread began, but I learned a lot. Thanks Screenshot_20220414-123314~2.png

Love 450 Bushmaster but it seems like an AR cartridge to me not a bolt gun cartridge. None-the-less I think it will do what you want in either platform.

Does the .45 Raptor and .450 BM headspace on the case mouth?

Kind of reminds me of a lever action shot gun I had. (sold it in short order)
