    Hi All,

I was hoping you can help me find a good quality compact lever/pump action carbine. Currently I own a Winchester 94 Trapper carbine in .44 mag/.44 sp. It has a 16" barrel and it's a great handling gun. I'm looking for a similar carbine in .45 Colt.

I would like to get another Winchester 94 trapper (with a 16" barrel) but with Winchester Arms currently being out of action, the 94's are getting hard to find (and very pricey).

Can anyone recommend a similar short barrel carbine? Does Marlin make a 16 inch or 18 inch lever gun in .45 Colt? I'm looking for a "bull strong" carbine (like my Winchester 94) that can handle Ruger-strength 45 Colt loads (rather than the lower pressure standard factory rounds). I've thought about getting some kind of cowboy action italian Winchester replica, but I wasn't sure if those guns (which seem to all be based on the 1873 style Winchester actions) were strong enough for Ruger-strength loads.

I wish I had bought the 94 in 45 Colt (I had been meaning to for some time). I hope someone will eventually revive the Winchester line, but for now I'm open to suitable alternatives.

I believe that Taurus makes a clone of the Win M92 in .45 Colt. In fact, I have one with a 16" barrel. Interams used to import some models from Brazil, likely the same guns now sold by Taurus, and they may be around used. There are Italian clones but they are pricey IMO.
