I'm seriously considering the purchase of one of the New Vaqueros with the interchangable .45acp cylinder. Always wanted a single action in that caliber. My question is will a steady diet of 230 grain ball ammo (my favorite) have any adverse effect on the gun? Will it compromise that legendary Ruger toughness and durability? Many thanks in advance.

Stay within SAAMI specs and you'll be all set. Keep in mind that just because YOu like that load, doesn't mean the gun will.

A Ruger should shoot hardball roughly forever.
Chamber pressure is about half of a .357 Magnum's; jackets are softer and barrels are harder than when Elmer Keith said the life of a .45 ACP barrel was 5000 rounds.
