    If you use the search function you ought to find a ton of threads on this, but basically the GAP is a little shorter (its design was intended to allow smaller sized guns that are chambered for a .45), and its standard pressure is higher than that of the .45 ACP because of the shorter case. The standard pressure rounds are fairly comparable in performance, but the higher pressure ACP rounds tend to outdo the GAP due to the larger capacity in the case.
    IMHO, the small difference in grip size that the GAP allows is not worth the hassle. Especially when the ACP outperforms it in the +P self defense loads. YMMV.

    .45GAP = .45ACP performance in a 9x19mm grip frame.

    Preformance wise...
    .45ACP ammo = .45GAP ammo
    .45ACP +P ammo > .45GAP ammo

    Currently, 8% of the state law enforcement agencies in the USA have adopted the 45GAP.

    The popularity of the 45GAP is what has me shying away from it. It may catch on like 40 S&W did years ago but I rarely ever see any brass laying around at the range and the selection of firearms it is available in are very limited.

    If you buy rounds in bulk....GAP is not bad to have. Take into consideration that re-sell is going to be much harder and it is difficult to find ammo at a 'mom-and-pops' store. and .45ACP + +P is > than .45GAP
