I'm considering buying a Rossi-made Legacy Puma '92 16" lever rifle in .454 chambering. I get the impression that .45Colt is equally suitable for use in this .454 chambered rifle. Is that true?

Should I expect to have equally good functioning from .45Colt cartridges in this rifle chambered for .454 Casull?

If so, I think I may go for it. It's a really sweet little 16" carbine with butt pad, hi-viz sights, and stainless steel. Only thing is that for the most part, I will probably just shoot .45 Colt, with just the occasional use of .454 Casull.

My buddy has a puma, and mostly shoots .45lc out of it for plinking, in addition to several differrent .454 casull loads for 50 yard defense.

    It's was sweet little shooter.

Unfortunately, his normally competent 'smith drilled the reciever a bit too deeply for a scope mount, resulting in the screw blowing out when he fired a full house .454 :what:

No injuries occured, but the scope was totalled.

The one I saw in a gunshop really got my attention... the size and weight is fantastic, the hiviz sights looked great... and how great to be able to shoot .45Colt most of the time and still have the capability of .454 if you desire it... I think this rifle is in my future. Anyone else have any feedback on this rifle, particularly with regard to shooting .45Colt?

My wife bought a Rossi92 in .44mag. It has no problem feeding .44spl, which is what the Cowboy Action Shooter who owned it before we did shot out of it. Lots.

Just be sure to clean the chamber after using .45 Colt. When we got the Rossi 92, there was so much leading form .44spl, I could not chamber a round of .44mag...completely. Hey, at least I learned how to dis-assmble a '92.
