Dear THR,
Between the g19 gen4 and H&K P30, which is more ergonomic in your opinion? Please answer this if you have handled both for the sake of better and meaningful.

Thank you

HK P30. Better grip angle. Better contouring. Interchangeble side panels as well as back panel on the grip.

H&K P30, and yes I own one.

when I went pistol shopping in 2009 I handled many a firearm before I purchased. the P30 was the only one when I picked it up in either hand (i'm a leftie btw) the first thought that came into my mind was "did they custom taylor this thing for me?" I wouldn't say that money was no object, but I was of the mind set the whole time of "get what's right, not what's cheap." and I'm glad I did. (almost) everything about the ergonomics is exactly what I'd want. the "almost" part was the decocker being only on the left side is a bit difficult to grab when holding strong left hand. if you want, I have other thoughts about it and the variants out there.

to borrow a qoute from one of my favorite movies of all time...
"It is so choice. If you have the means, I highly recommend picking one up."

The Armed T, the question is not what you will buy as cost effective rather which is better ergonomically.

To me the H&K P-30 has a better feel to it and better ergos than a Glock 19. Definitely in the grip angle and the overall design.

I have a P30L and a Glock 19 Gen4. The HK feels like they made the grip from a mold of my own hand.

Problem with the HK is that the slide drops when you load a full magazine. HK said it's normal when you forcefully insert a full mag, but the slide drops when I insert a mag normally. They say this is normal. I've checked the HK forums and seems like this problem occurs with other HK models.

The problem with the Glock 19 Gen 4 is that the brass comes back into my face when it ejects the brass. Glock sent a replacement ejector, but it still throws brass in my face...just not as often.

Ergonomics and comfort are going to be completely personal -- which ever works and feels best to you is all that matters.

I carried a G19 for years, and just purchased a P30 9mm LEM. From the very first trip to the range, I was significantly more accurate with the P30-- significantly and consistently. It is slightly wider (which makes a difference if you carry IWB), and the grip is longer, so its a bit more gun to conceal, but if my goal is to carry the gun I'm most accurate with, then its the P30 hands down.

I own a glock 32 (so a "hot" g19) and a hk p30 with an LEM trigger. I used to carry my glock but now that I have the P30 the glock collects dust in the safe. The P30, for me, is vastly superior in ergonomics and "shootability". It is a fantastic pistol. Dare I say one of the best 9mms ever made.

Glock 19 fits my hand better than the couple P30's I've handled... So the 19 get's my vote.

I have a V2 LEM P30 in 9mm. Sold the Gen 3 19 that I had. Shot the Gen 4 and it isn't a bad choice but the ergos are not that much better than the Gen 3.

The P30 cost me more than a Glock 19 but there were a couple things that I liked better-
Exposed hammer for safer holstering. I put my finger on the hammer to make sure nothing is catching the trigger on the way in.

Grip- customize to the way you like it.

Accuracy- Not a big deal for a defense gun but the HK is better. I tend to be an accuracy freak.

Maintenance- Longer life between spring changes. One big downside on the P30 is the aftermarket support. It is getting better but it is not near what the Glock has to offer.

Reliability- Both are probably about equal but my P30 has been stellar. The Gen 4 had lots of issues when it first came out.

MyRoad,

I dislike the P30 trigger, and the Glock is basically a perfect size. It conceals well, serves well as a duty weapon/OC, and retains a 4" barrel along the way. In a nutshell, it would do more for me than the P30 would, and I shoot the Glock better. Similarly, I prefer the Caracal C and G19/23 to their own larger siblings.

I thought the p30 ergo's. but didn't like the trigger. I prefere glocks for ccw and a p226 for target/hd/3 gun. Not a fan of h&k's. you don't get a lot for the extra money then what I could get a sig for.

I love Glocks, but the P30 along with the Walther PPQ are two of the most ergonomic handguns I've ever handled. I voted HK. Having said that, I don't see close to $500 more function in the HK.

My opinion is that if Glocks don't suit you ergonomically, there is probably something wrong with your hand.

P30 hands down, though the trigger options are ...meh

No need to forge your hand to fit the Glock. Look to the Walther PPQ (what a striker fired P30 would look like) or the Caracal.

YMMV
