Does anyone have information about when the FN patents on the 5.7 will expire? I assume that many other companies are waiting to make their own versions. I'm looking forward to more choices of manufacturer of firearms and ammunition.

Apologies in advance if this is a frequently posted topic. I'm not skilled at searching.

other companies already make 5.7x28mm firearms, AR uppers for the most part, might be company out there making a bolt-action rifle in it as well.

I agree, right now the only other option is Eliteammunition.com and they are on back order.

Various manufacturers make uppers/firearms in the caliber. Don't know about ammo. I'm guessing the limited number is b/c it is a niche market rather than because of any patent or intellectual property issues. The average buyer that might be interested in a 5.7x28 firearm can get most of what they'd want out of a .223, and that is where the market focuses.

I don't care, as long as someone brings out a nice bolt action and an AR in this caliber.

The bolt action is a must! And uh, while we're dreaming, make it a blue and walnut 22" sporter barrel repeater with a rotary magazine....no, not a Ruger. Really, I don't care what type of magazine it has, just bring it.
