I've decided to bite the bullet and buy one. What is the best buy for the money. What do I want it for. Just to shoot for the pleasure of it.

The Armalite AR-50 is probably the most affordable and practical model out there. You could aways dish out the cash for a Barrett but the Armalite will get you into the .50 BMG cartridge with about a $2500 investment. The key to accuracy in these rifles is finding good bullets and not just the M33 ball.

I don't have one . . . yet . . . but I've heard good things about the Serbu from everyone who's owned one including a gentleman who had both it and the AR-50. He preferred the Serbu and said it was more accurate.

    I've got a M99 for sale:

    But I'm keeping the McMillan:

The AR50 is a very mild shooter. The LAR Grizzly is a good shooter too, though the action is more awkward.
