Hello fellas
I was buying my 500 mag lead from Missouri Bullet Co but it looks like they are not making the big cal anymore:(. What’s a good source of lead to feed the monster. . . .
Thanks. . . .

I think I have a couple hundred moly coated cast bullets in the shed. I'll check tomorrow and price them to sell.

I would get in touch with Brad and see for sure if they are out. They may have a box or two stuck back somewhere. Or he may be waiting on someone to ask about them before he makes another run of those big boys.

They are second to none when it comes to costumer service. If it's something he is already tooled up for I wouldn't be shocked if he made a run just for you. Can't hurt to ask.

We'll do another run, have them ready in a week or so. Tough bullet to make and we're really jammed on time with huge orders to fill. But if you can be patient for a few days, we'll get them made and re-enabled on our website.

Thanks!

Brad

Thanks!

Thanks for the response! I'm in no hurry as I still have some left. I don't mind on waiting for them and understand that you are probably very busy. They are an excellent bullet and my BFR ingests them nicely.

Everyone has a different "use" for a .500 S&W; mine has evolved into a sometimes carried defensive and woods gun. I have a 2 3/4" 500ES model, and have been casting my own 440gr. gas checked bullets from wheelweights. The mold is from Lee, not very expensive, but casts a very nice looking flatpoint. My mild load of 10gr of Unique should put it in the low 800fps, and this translates to about twice the Taylor Knockdown Power factor of the .45 ACP with a 230gr bullet. I heartily recommend casting one's own, and then you gain your own independence regarding bullets. With gas checks, you can run the 440 grainer twice as fast as I do, and not get any leading.

I would love to cast, but along with the reloading hobby and about 10 others I just dont have time. Nevermind have time to spend with the family. Maybe some day when I'm retired. . . . For now if I can buy a quality bullet at a fare price I go for it.
