500 S & W Load Question

Trying to work up a load for the 500. Would like to use the 400 gr missouri bullet company cast bullet with H110 powder. Am not able to find any data at all for the 500 with a 400 gr cast bullet. Can find jhp and jsp data but not cast. Anybody have any info?????

Here's a load from reloaders nest for a handgun using a 400gr cast bullet. The charge of H110 is the same as Hodgdon shows for a 400gr JHP. It should be very potent out of your rifle.

Do not reduce loads more than 3% as per hodgdon.

Thanks so much for the info. That is a new website and asset. Appreciate the effort. Will be loading up for deer in Indiana. I also have a .44mag which I will use but like to try the 500. A bit heavy but needs to be used.

I don't know what the muzzle velocity of the 500 S&W load from NCsmitty's site (above) is but H110 is mainly for max load cartridge performance. This may not be very compatible with lead bullets. I know I can't shoot them in my Ruger Super Redhawk without a lot of leading, and you aren't supposed to download H110. Does the Missouri Bullet Co bullet have a gas check on it?

I don't think Missouri Bullets is in the gas check bullet business.

In my 500 Handi-Rifle I use gas check bullets from Montana Bullet Works.

No leading whatsoever. MBW recommended I use .500" bullets instead of .501" for the Handi-Rifle.

I use the same data for rifle as listed for pistol. Awesome round coming out of a 22" barrel.
