I traded for a 6.8 upper with floorit76 a few months ago. Since then,I've bought the components to reload, and found the abilities of this round. This is the perfect mid-range cartridge in an AR platform. 2 bucks in 8 days:1 from 75 yards, the second from 240. Both 1 shot kills, both DRT. I still use my 303,but this little round is MEAN!

Count me in as a 6.8 convert too, so far I've taken two does with it this year. Right now I'm using AA2200 to push a 110gr Accubond to ~2660 fps. While neither doe was terribly long range (110 & 130 yds), both went straight down with their shoulders broken. I think what tickles me most about the 6.8 as a hunting cartridge is its efficiency... it seems to lay out game very well while delivering minimal levels of recoil and muzzle blast.

My recipe is:110gr V Max,30gr h322,Hornady brass,Federal srp @ 2770fps out of 16" spcII barrel. My hunting buddies used to talk s**t to me,not anymore!

303,
That's a smokin' load for sure. I worked up to 28.8 grs of AA2200, but didn't notice much velocity gain over my 28.5 gr load so I opted to stick with that. What OAL are you loading to?

flyskater,
Yeah, I perused 68 forums for a while before selecting the Accubond. People seem to really like the 95 gr ttsx, and I may try that some time, but for now I'd like to stick with a bonded or classic bullet design as opposed to monolithic. I don't really shoot hogs that much (i'd like to though), and I don't really think I would get any extra performance out of the barnes bullets on deer to justify their extra cost.

I no longer own an AR in 5.56. The 6.8 does everything better. Being that I reload, ammo cost is not a problem.

Nosler's periodic overruns don't hurt either. I think all my Accubonds have been blems and some of these match bullets are being carried by UPS right now.

It's a fun cartridge for sure, and doubles as a very accurate, usable round for hunting. I am eagerly awaiting this coming year's release of Tula for range fodder, and several loadings from Federal (Gold Dot/Fusion/American Eagle).

Glad to hear of the successes 303 Hunter.

Can't wait to try out my 6.8SPC. I converted one of my AR's from 5.56, and have even loaded up some test loads to see what works. Currently loaded 110gr VMAX over 29gr or less H335 to make the test run. Also experimenting with various seating depths.

I was never on the .223 bandwagon, but I sure jumped on the 6.8spc when it came around. I think I could live with it being my only rifle caliber if it came to that.
