629 Grips

Trivia question here: What kind of grips were offered on the 629-1 3" 44 mag? Were they wood or pachmayrs? Its a square butt right? How about the 629-1 6" 44?
 
Easy, both were wood unless specified different at the time of ordering the revolver....
Finger grove round butt for 629-1 3 "

And Checkered wood square butt for the 629-1 6"

Oh and forgot to add, just about everybody makes grips for both the round and square ..Hogue , Pachmayr, Herrit and so on..Wood, Ivory,Stone inlay,Rubber..Great thing about owning S&W's everyone makes accessories for them..Its the holsters that are harder to find, mainly for the 3 inch..Galco, Desantis and G&G are some of the few..
 
As BigBore said. If you are looking to buy a gun and they are missing the original wood grips, deduct $75 from the book or average going value for the gun if it's a 6", and $150 or more for the much more rare 3" Finger-groove type. Here's what they should look like:
