The prices just keep dropping. Maybe some semblance of normalcy is on the way... at least for a little while.

We need to sticky a single thread where folks can post the latest & greatest deal on 7.62x39 (or even ammo prices in general). I think this is the 3rd or 4th thread in as many days on this topic.

Still can't buy a box of .223 or .308/.30-06 at Wal-Mart yet!

Since all the companies have cranked up production to '11', I wonder what QUALITY some of this ammo is going to be?
US makers have the double whammy of trying to produce for the US Military AND satisfy the 'Idiot Market' buying spree going on now...

Since I'm new, I don't know if this has been discussed (Probably so),

But the biggest reason for the decline in import ammo was the fuel crunch about a year ago...

People (Importers) simply didn't want to pay the shipping costs that would make the 'Cheap' import ammo as much as US quality production, so there was a virtual stoppage in import for a while!

I bet they would have GLADLY paid that extra premium to be sitting on a big stockpile of those imported rounds now!

That is what I sold my 1k of 7.62x39 a little while ago for. I wasn't really looking to make a profit, and it all averaged out to be around what I had paid for it.

Still waiting a bit longer. They will fall more as continued, high unemployment rates ripple through the economy. 3 months ago, I could not get a lane at the shooting range. Nowadays, I am one of just 3 or 4 people there. Now that the hoarders are stocked up and not going to the range anymore, we will see the demand slow rapidly. I have been seeing some nice deals on guns lately, and ammo is sure to follow.

Am trading an equal number of Russian .223 for x39 (2,000 rounds or more), but will not buy any x39 until prices drop a lot more. US dollar inflation might not be factor for a good while.

People seem to have noticed that no serious anti-gun or ammo (tax etc) legislation has passed, and that this is not a coincidence. Some govt entity had told the DOD to sell only shredded brass .223 (once used) cases to civilian distributors and the steaming "heat" on Congress stopped this about three months ago.
Isn't that a good sign?
