Can anyone tell me what the difference between the 7.65 Argentine and the 7.65 X 57 Argentine? I am not at all sure if they are different or interchangeable. Sorry to be a dummy on this one.

Thanks,

Well, 7.65 argentine is 7.65x53mm, and honestly I never heard about a 7.65x57 cartidge. But If this 7.65x57mm exists, then I don't think they are interchangeable, because they have a different case length.

Alfon you were right I just went and looked and it is 7.65X53 you were right of course. I am glad to know that I did not buy the wrong thing.

thank you for your help. My grandpa's rifle was made in 1897 and I did not have much ammo for it. I had it taken to a gunsmith for cleaning. He did not say anything about it so I figure I can use this new ammo in it.

You bought the right ammo for your grandpa's rifle, but you need to make sure it's safe to shoot.

I have a 1891 and it's one of the most accurate rifles I own. That old thing shoots way better then I can.
It has a little more thump then my other Mausers. It's also hard for me to get a good cheek weld. It has a tendency to get me in the jaw bone a little.
They are great rifles and a very good round.

rhartwell, are you aware of how easy it is to make cases for your rifle? Get your 7.65 Argentine dies and unscrew the decapping rod entirely, Lube up a 30-06 case and run it all the way into the die. This will leave you with a 7.65 case with an overly long neck which you can easily trim to the proper length. The two rounds use the same shell holder and they are pretty much identical in dimensions from the shoulder on down to the base. If your reloading manual
does not have 7.65 data 303 British data will work . Don't forget to use .311 diameter bullets. Happy shooting!

If you don't reload new PPU with a 180 gr. PSP is about $19/20 rounds.
