I have a Remington 700P in .223 with a 1/9 twist barrel. It shoots 55gr Hornady VMaxs OK and 69 gr FGMM a little better (a bit less than 1" at 100 yards). I had (and foolishly sold:banghead:) a 700 Varmint with a 1/12 twist barrel that shot 5/8" at 200 yards with 55 gr Hornady VMax. I want to replicate that accuracy with the 700P. In the best of all worlds, I'd like a bullet suitable for punching paper and killing ground hogs and prairie dogs.

Open to any and all ideas/loads. Thanks!

I'm currently in the same boat as you. I just picked a R700 LTR 1-9 twist, and just put together a load that shot well in my SPS Varmint. 52gr smk, 25.5- 26.9gr H335. 60gr Sierra varminters shot very well out of my RRA 1-8 twist, that load will be next in the LTR. It consist of 60gr Sierra Varminters, over 24gr H335. I put some break in rounds through it today, some LC ball, and other mixed headstamp ammo, and it held 1moa, pretty impressed so far, and got my scope zeroed:)
