722 action srews

In what order should I tighten the action screws on a Rem. 722?

On any bolt action rifle, I always tighten the front screw in the recoil lug first.
And bang the butt on the floor a couple of time to make sure it is seated fully to the rear in the stock first.

Then snug up the rear one.
Generally speaking, you don't want it as tight as the recoil lug screw.

There's also a third screw just in front of the trigger guard. I suppose it's tightened last.

Yes, last.

But actually not tightened tight.

If you really cinch it down, it will spring the magazine or action enough to bind things up.

You just want it snug enough it doesn't fall out.
