On any bolt action rifle, I always tighten the front screw in the recoil lug first.
And bang the butt on the floor a couple of time to make sure it is seated fully to the rear in the stock first.

Then snug up the rear one.
Generally speaking, you don't want it as tight as the recoil lug screw.

Yes, last.

But actually not tightened tight.

If you really cinch it down, it will spring the magazine or action enough to bind things up.

You just want it snug enough it doesn't fall out.
