Not sure if I'm calling this part correctly, but I'm referring to that little pin on the bolt, with a small hook, which ejects the shell, when you rack the pump backwards.

Basically, I noticed it can move up and down a little. Nothing accessive, but it is not rock solid. Is it supposed to be like that?

BTW, it moves ONLY up and down. It feels perfectly solid when I try moving it left and right.

Thanks in advance!

If it's on the bolt, it's the extractor, and yes, it is supposed to move some. Fair warning, don't mess around with it overmuch or you might, ummm, uninstall it, and thereby launch the extractor plunger and spring to parts unknown. See parts 19, 20 and 21 in the exploded drawing at http://www.urban-armory.com/diagrams/rem870.htm (never mind it's a left handed 870).

BTW, the ejector is mounted to the receiver wall opposite the ejection port- see parts 15, 16, 17 and 18 in the drawing.

hth,

Put a drop of oil occasionally on the extractor such that the oil will creep back into the spring underneath it. This should keep it lubricated and working smoothly.
