870 Flexitab demo

So the newer 870's have the flex tab? and the older 870's dont?

I know the Police models have it, not sure on the others. You can buy a kit to add it to any 870.

Interesting that he only mentions changing the carrier to upgrade...I thought some mods were done to the slide assembly or the bolt as well?

Here is a photo of the FlexiTab lifter. Note the cutout that distinguishes it from the earlier lifter.

oooh ok, so an older lifter is solid with no cut out? Ive heard of peaple adjusting the flextab, how is this done?

Right. The older lifter doesn't have that U-shaped cut. It's solid. (I thought a photo would do the trick for you. Glad it did.)

I don't know anything about adjusting the FlexiTab. In lots of years of shooting shotguns I've never had a problem with either style of lifter.

Dave M, Lee Lapin, or any of the real experts here would be able to help you on such things. I'm a learner.

IIRC, the whole shebang is indeed the slotted shell lifter AND some recess cuts off the bottom of the bolt to give the shell more room. Just replacing the lifter was kind of a half-way add on option before the flexitab became standard on all their guns.

I know the Police models have it, not sure on the others.

Someone else might know the exact dates, but I think it's all 870's (police/wingmaster/express) for at least the last 20 years have included the flexitab.
