Hi Folks!

Previously I've had a lot of fun exploring the limitations of the Mossberg 590 Shockwave - now for this spring and with some unexpected time away from work, one of my social distancing project has been to head out to the farm to shake out a Remington 870 Tac-14 marine magnum and a police project gun along the same vein. I brought the camera along so I could share, and fate+fortune aligned such that I could apply the project to a big-time bird hunt (conducted legally on private land as per the rules here in Ab)

I get lots of comments asking why I wouldn't use something more appropriate (or prescribing that I should!)....the simple answer is I've been hunting with shotguns for a long time and I enjoy trying to find good ways to explore my limitations with less conventional gear and then trying to hunt within these limitations.

Most folks (my former self included in this camp!) write these shotguns off as useless; and while you won't get any argument from me that a conventional stocked and barrelled gun is easier to become proficient with, I've surprised myself with the discovery of the extent to which these kinds of guns, with focused preparation, can be made useful.

I know and accept they're not for everyone, but speaking for myself I had a TONNE of fun making this one! Thank for watching, and if you liked it I’ve got another in the works where I showcase the gun on the skeet field.

Hope you and your loved ones are all safe, healthy, and happy in these wild times!

Best,

Brobee

Looks like you have the skeet field covered; you're on the tail end of the crossers, though.

Shoot a 25 from the 27 yard line with it, I'll really be impressed. ;)

I do like the targets you made, and the "commercial'.

Crow stew isn't that bad, the secret is in the spices.

You should have probably done a bit on how to hold these shotguns and avoid getting hit in the chops, though Clint Smith covered this well in his review of them.

Your video definitely proves that these shoguns have many uses in a seasoned shooter's hands.

I hadn’t noticed your username but the second I heard your voice on the video I knew it was Brobee223.

I have watched many of your vids and really liked your buckshot testing and hunting videos. Highly recommend them to anyone interested in buckshot hunting. The Shockwave makes an appearance in those ones too.

I am HIGHLY impressed with what you are doing with these shotguns that most would never consider to be a hunting arm.

They was one of the most thorough, informative, and surprising firearms reviews I've seen in years.

Excellently done.

Ha....given that at 35 yards my barrel's cylinder choke won't break a static clay who's dome is completely exposed, I'd be surprised if I could muster better than 10%! You can bet though that if I find a 14 inch barrel with a full choke or eventually get my barrel threaded I'll be giving it a solid try.

Appreciate your kind feedback, thanks!

Great video.

I have the 410 Shockwave and am quite happy on how it does at home defense ranges with Winchester PDX 1 shells and 000 buckshot shells. I've only shot it at 15 yards and less. After watching your video, I need to take the 410 Shockwave out with some birdshot shells and try it at farther distances.

I just realized that when I initially uploaded the video, somehow my iMovie was set to 720P. I think the value of the clay and bird shooting (seeing line and lead) is better in higher resolution, so I just uploaded the video in 1080P with the intent to remove the original. Here's a link to the high res version:

Thanks again for your comments folks!

Best,

Brobee

Looking forward to your hunting videos later in the year.

If you cannot tell, I am an enthusiastic shotgun hunter and have long wondered how well shotgun slugs would perform on larger game. I hope you are successful so we can see those results.
