I think it’s interesting that Paul Harrell’s test does not match the results listed in the Lucky Gunner link.

Here’s a screen shot of Lucky Gunnner’s spreadsheet.

PH is knowledgeable and entertaining in a quirky way, but I would trust the Lucky Gunner data sets more than the meat target. The PD where I work carries the Winchester load and has had multiple opportunities to prove they work in the wild.

I just found it interesting that the bullets reacted differently in different test media and conditions. I do agree regarding trusting Lucky Gunner, but I do think Paul Harrell’s meat targets do also show what could happen, which is why I am a firm believer in bullet placement and double taps, at the very least.

Yes, thank you for the kind words. Now begins all the unpacking and the search for my new pistols that I couldn’t get in CA. I am thinking a Glock 43X or S&W M&P Shield Plus and I like the softer, less snappy recoil of 147 grain 9mm rounds, hence my interest in this thread. ;)

Our service ammo, when I retired, was either Hornady Critical Duty 135 grain +P or Speer G2 147 grain. I use either as approved duty ammo in standard sized pistols such as the G17 or G19, but for subcompacts like the authorized Glock 43X we were instructed to only use the Hornady Critical Duty 135 grain +P for carry ammo.

I am pretty sure that any Paul Harrell test result wouldn't match a previous Paul Harrell test result.
