I'm looking for a DA/SA 9mm or .40 that has a decocker and manual safety (or some safety mechanism similar to the Bersa Thunder .380). What are your favorites?

I think the HK USP fits your criteria. IIRC with some variants you can carry cocked and locked or in DA/SA mode. Another you may check out is the Ruger P series pistols. Many different models and calibers to choose from. I owned a P85 that my brother now has that was like carrying a brick, but would darn near feed empty brass. Couldn't get it to jam.

I think the Jericho 941 (Baby Eagle) has both . . . could be wrong though.

what about the S&W 39/59 series and all the later generations that followed? the decocker is a safety.

    Beretta 9000S.

I think some models of FN FMP offer this option. I think the new Taurus 8000 series polymer pistols have this too, as do the Taurus 900 series (945 etc.)

Seconding... thirding... Whatever, +1 on the S&W's.

Not only is the safety a decocker, it swings into a position that, should you have any reason to carry it with the safety on, a straightened thumb easily sweeps off when you grab it.

I've had a Taurus PT92SS for nearly 16 years. The only time it didn't go bang when I pulled the trigger was when I was shooting some old Egyptian surplus military stuff.

    Beretta Px4 40 or 9mm F-model

    ...

    +3 or 4 on Beretta Px4 9mm a/o 40cal "F-model" - safety/decocker in-one.

Great straight out of the box and gets better and better with every pull.

    You won't be disappointed,

Around here the surplus Atlanta PD S&W 5906 .40 cal can be had for $349 at most of the Army Navy stores. My friend picked one over the summer and it looked like it had never been fired. Great shooter and had night sights (very dim though).

I saw those at the Army Navy in Stockbridge not too long ago Frank. I was thinking Ruger P-95 you can get one NIB for around 300 dollars.

My buddy picked his up at the same store. They also had them at their sister store in Forest Park. I like the manager better in Forest Park, the guy that runs the Stockbridge store is mall ninja type with a bad attitude.
