The worth is not on the snake---it is on you. The question is are you worth $6.00 a round?

Lol! It has gone beyond prices just being high. We are now into ludicrous territory...

I know for a fact that a Sidewinder (among a great many other snakes) can cost a fella over $3,500.

    So, there's that.

I got deal with the snakes, "don't come near me and you get to live."

Wadcutters work just fine...you just have to aim a little better.

If you know you will encounter snakes why not carry a 410? Or a machete? Hoe? Shovel? A long stick? Or best of all chap's?

Having accidentally walked within a few feet of a few copperheads or cottonmouths....

..many of us immed. stop and step backwards, or step sideways (both cottonmouths panicked and raced away). As a second response it's then so much easier to pull and aim.
My choice would be a long stick to attract a snake's attention

I'm guessing you don't live in the vicinity of venomous ones?

My wife stumbled upon this one while in our hay barn. I asked her why she was shooting pictures instead of lead..

Your wife has a well developed sense of aesthetics. But if the poisonous ones are where I may come across them, they gotta go.

As I typed this it occurred to me that I took the snake shot out of my revolver two months ago, and, since it's 18 degrees outside, why am I discussing snakes?

    No. I'm not.

I am worth whatever it was I paid several years back for a bunch of 12 gauge #7 shot.

I didn’t mean to start a “worth” thread. I have killed snakes with bow and arrow, clubs, pellet guns and .22lr. I do like the shot shells for pistols. I have used the .22 shot shells on rats. They need 2 shots $12! I just wanted to give people a chuckle in how silly it has got. Better to laugh than cry. I do like the photos that have been posted.

I've found that I can side step a snake fairly easily, and if I just have to kill one a shovel works pretty good.

Snakes are the one thing that absolutely terrify me. I'll take that $6 round to kill a snake anytime.

I’ve resisted commenting on these crazy price threads but, Jaysus, $33 for a 50 rd box of .22? That is far, far beyond crazy. But if they weren’t getting that they probably wouldn’t be asking that. Which is almost inconceivable.

I guess (OK, I don't have to guess) that I would still pay these insane prices to get ammo to take kids & family out shooting than to overpay to take them to; a professional sporting event, a country music concert or most anything but a damn tractor-pull these days.

It's all a matter of perspective, folks.

    Todd.
