Like many I am back into reloading since retail ammo prices are still ridiculous. Since I wasn't preparing for this move I had an interesting mix of components laying around for my first couple batches, so far I haven't found any load data for the combo and hoping somebody here can share their experiences.

Here is what I started with:
- Brass – mixed headstamp single use and range pickup, standard dillon 9mm re-sizing die
- Primer – Wolf small pistol primers
- Bullets – Rainier plated 115gr round nose
- Powder - Alliant American Select – 4.9gr
- 0.002” Dillon case crimp
- 1.125” OAL

Tested out 50 rounds today and am very happy with the results. Nice soft recoil, no flash, no smoke, no excessive fouling, no case splits, no primer cratering, and relatively consistent grouping in my hurried testing.

Being I'm well under the Alliant recipe of 5.4gr, I loaded up 50 more at 5.1gr and am going to give them a try next chance I have to run by the range. Since this is a plinking round and currently all I have are plated bullets I don't think I'll push any harder than that. I don't have a chronograph currently so I have no idea how hard I'm pushing the bullets, that is the next step in this quest.

So finally the question: has anybody else loaded for 9mm using American Select and plated bullets? What were your experiences with the combo?

Right now it feels like I've got a really nice load built up, but keep thinking there has to be something I've missed.

I just started using American Select and Berry's 115gr plated bullets for 9mm also. I'm using 5.4 grains as lower charges didn't work well in my Beretta PX4. That charge also really fills the case and there is no way to overcharge a round. Nice shooting load.

I have used American Select with Rainier 115gr JHP. 5.2 grains worked with all of my 9mm I used i.e. SIG228, StarBM, Star30M,S&W915,59 and others. I good pleasant shooting load. The only downside is that it is a flake powder so metering can be a bit challenging at times.

It is not rocket science.I don't see where you are missing anything. You use what you can get in todays world.:)

I run the typical 115 and 125 Gr RN 9MM bullets at 1.130 to 1.135 OAL. I run the Berrys HBRN-TP in 9MM at 1.140 to 1.145.

American Select should work well for this application. It is good stuff. I don't know why I do not use more of it.

".002 Dillon case crimp"

9MM case length varies a lot. Adjust the crimp so that the shortest cases get the bell removed completely. This will end up crimping the longest ones .001 or .002, or occasionally a hair more.

I forgot to update this thread once I finally landed on a load.

•5.1gr American Select
•Wolf small pistol primer
•115gr Rainier plated round nose
•1.125” OAL

1180-1240 fps through a G35 with 9mm Lone Wolf drop in barrel. Shoots nice and soft while pushing the plated bullets up to the max velocity they are rated for. Zero flash, barely any smoke, cleaning has been a breeze.

Confirmed good function in the above G35 with 9mm barrel, G22 with 9mm barrel, G26, CZ P-01, CZ 75B, and Walther P1.

Super happy with the load, thought I'd share.

I like and have used it. 1.125" OAL probably. Was my first powder, 4lb er...spilled half of it! Ha!

Wont ever forget to make sure I have a disk installed in the Pro Auto Disk before filling the hopper again!
