9mm range gun

CZ SP01 Shadow, Glock G34 (best out of box trigger), G34 still out shoots all of my stock 9mm pistols. For a true 1" group at 25 yards you need a good 1911 in 9mm, like a Para P18-9.

the witness and CZ; will they actually shoot better then the glock? if not im not really interested in switching platforms

Depends. For bullseye shooting, the CZ/Witness or BHP may have a little advantage over the Glock. I can shoot my CZ, BHP and G17 very well at combat distance (<25yds). So if you are planning on shooting bullseye, the CZ/Witness/BHP or preferably a 9mm 1911, would be a better choice IMHO. If you plan on putting a red dot on this pistol, either platform will work. For defensive style shooting, the Glock would be my first choice. The G34 is a nice pistol, but if you have a 17 you could always put on a long slide and barrel.

If I wanted a strictly range Glock, I'd go with the Glock 34 because I already have a Glock 19. I also have a few Glock 17 mags that fit the Glock 34 and are a tad long for my 19...but still work in the 19.

The CZ's look like excellant handguns. I just bought a CZ 452 Varmit 22LR and am pleased with the quality for the price. I have yet to shoot it (need a scope for Christmas!), but you would pay a lot more money and not get a whole lot more gun for the money.

If you are purely looking for accuracy, the Ruger suggestion i think would be out.

I'd probably go with the SAO model of the CZ75 for that purpose.

Although, if you can legitimately get 2.5" groups at 25 yards, that's pretty damned good already.

If good accuracy is what you are after you will have to pay for it.
A CZ SP01 Shadow is not too expensive (in comparision to accurate pistols) and would be a good start to small groups, but a 1911 is probably going to be your best option.
My cheapest 1911 that will shoot 1inch at 25 yards is a STI Trojan in .38 super, I hear they run about 1k in the US.
If your not keen on a 1911 then your probably going to have to spend a little more on another design to get similar accuracy to a 1911 that would cost less.
Some other options to consider would be;
Sig X5/X6 series
Sig Sport series
HK Elite, Expert or a Match maybe
Sig P210
CZ Tactical Sport
S&W 952

Ya know, I hate to say it being that we're in the semi-auto subforum and all, but if accuracy is the MAIN concern, have you thought about a 6"bbl revolver?

A used S&W 686 with a 6"bbl would nail the fun, accuracy requirement. Of course it's .38/.357 rather than 9mm.

i have a 686+ with a 6" barrel. yes it is hella accurate...

but im looking for an auto. would the .40 version of any of these guns be more accurate?

In the last year, I bought a P01, a SP01 w/meprolights, a 75 SA and a Kadet Conversion.

5 mags for the P01
5 mags for the kadet
9 mags for the SP01
5 mags for the 75 SA

For right around $1900 bucks total.

I dont know why people think these guns are pricey, I love em, and cant throw a rock without hitting a good deal.

I CC the P01, the SP01 is my HD gun, the SA + kadet kit for the range.

Handguns, done. Movin on to rifles.

the ruger p series is way more accurate than people claim they are because they want to make their guns sound better the p series will outshoot the cz easily if u know how to shoot u cant just be a wuss about it and limp wrist

That's ridiculous. Ruger P series pistols are in no way more inherently mechanically accurate than the CZ-75.

+1. That was a pretty silly statement.

I also don't feel that Glock has a better trigger than a CZ SP01. The CZ triggers aren't the best but they smooth up pretty quick from practice and they can be smoothed up even more by a good smith. It's hard to really compare them because the Glock trigger has a very unique feel to it. Some like it and some hate it. A 1911 platform 9mm has an even more capable trigger than either IMO. I'd get a SAO variant because why even bother with DA/SA and decockers and all that when it's for target shooting? If you can find a Dan Wesson pointman 9 still that would be a good choice. CZ TS or SA Target would both be pretty nice. I like the SP01 steel frame models and variants too. You're looking at some good stuff and there's lots of good recommendations here too.

Another + for the 5906 if price means anything. More accurate and shootable than most would think. Just not as glamorous as a Sig or Glock and just about any thing will feed it one.
