OK, I have way to much free time on my hands right now and i have been thinking I "need" a semi auto 9mm that is not plastic-got some glocks in the safe, but want to try something else. Been considering the CZ 75 or some variation of the CZ or a beretta 92 of some flavor. Really like the idea of the beretta M9 22lr to start then move up to a nicer model beretta. Glocks are fine, just bulky in my hands and again...plastic.

Anyway...I know the "get to the store and handle it before you buy it, shoot if you can before spending the cash" deal-

I am just wondering what YOUR favorite 9mm is for the spending the day at the gun range

lets say $1500 or less is the budget, unless of course the wilson combat EDC or something else is worth the extra $$...buy once cry once wink

yall have some fun with this please!!

Dave

Ive never really been a CZ fan.

The Berettas are good guns. If you favor them, I dont think you'll go wrong there. They really arent as big or chunky as they look and feel very natural in the hand. Shoot well and naturally too. I have a couple of them as well as a M9-22. They did a good job on those and unlike a lot of the other 22 copies, they feel very much like one of the 9mm guns in your hands. They shoot well too.

Ive got a number of different 9mm handguns, and like them all. High Power, 1911, Glock, SIG, had a number of others too. Id suggest to try as many as you can and learn as many as you can, then you can "try" to pick the one you like the best. :)

I have medium sized hands and the M92 Berettas fit me like a glove- the P226 is just a hair too fat for my comfort, but still useable. The CZ75 is also a good fit for me, though Ive yet to actually own one.

Any of these 3 is a fine gun and you cant go wrong. Towards the upper end of your budget, consider the SIG P210 as well- amazing trigger, svelte grip and lines, outstanding accuracy and sights.

The P35 and variations on the theme are simply another truly natural pointing balanced pistol. Lately I've been carrying my Arcus 94, a Bulgarian sorta HP and using a Kydex CZ 75 holster.

I've several 1911s in 9mm,Springfield Armory,RIA,S&W and Ruger commander and withe the exception of the S&W the others are under $1000. You might want to look at some of the Canik line though they have polymer frames I found them a better fit in my hand than any Glock.

I was shooting 9mm pistols before they became super popular, mostly Browning High Powers. These days, I prefer a 1911, Springfield Range Officer or STI, over the BHP because of a better trigger but my all time favorites are SIG P210 and S&W 952. These two have absolutely fantastic triggers and are super accurate. You don’t find 952’s every day but they are super pistols.

Make sure to put the Sig P226/P229 on the list to check out. The Legion models of those guns bring a lot of nice extras to the table in a stock gun, and should be in your price range.

I own a CZ Shadow2 Orange. Awesome gun. But I would never consider carrying it. Trigger is far too light IMO.

Don't forget the 2nd and 3rd generation Smiths. While 9mm is not a round I really enjoy I have found that my Smiths tend to get far more than their fair share of WalkAbout time. My Smith 469 is almost as small as my Shield and feels better in hand plus has 15+1 rounds.

Here is my Shield 2.0 on top of my 469 with the slide tops parallel. Notice that the grip lengths, trigger placement, grip angle are all nearly identical.

I have:
- CZ75b w/a Kadet .22 conversion.
- Two Browning Hi Powers - one Silver Chrome and one Practical.
- Firestar M43 9mm (technically - it's my sons, he keeps it here because his wife's kids can't be trusted around anything)
- Sig P938
All are good guns.

this 38sp revolver guy finally “bit the bullet” and got a 9mm semiauto pistol: s&w shield ez. only an 8 round capacity, but it truly is easy.

Of the current 9mm I have shot
1 shadow 2
2 canik tp if you may want electronic site get the tp9fx comes with iron sites and adapter plates for most holo sights.

My favorites are my CZ75 clone, 1911, and Sig P-series. The CZ and 1911 are steel, but the Sig has an aluminum frame.

I have a Beretta 96 and a Taurus PT99. My FiL has an Italian surplus Beretta 92 of some sort. They all have aluminum frames. They go bang every time and I like them okay, but they aren't perfect for my hand and the triggers are kinda meh.

I also have a Hungarian Browning High Power clone. It's a good clone, but the trigger isn't great and the sights are small. It does point well.

IMG_3453.JPG Pick one. (See the Avatar) CZ's are great. Latest is the CZ P-01 Omega. For your need, not concealed carry though it certainly can be, I would go with a standard CA 75b, but any of the CZ's will serve you well.
