Hey, like, I mean I've got this 9mm Colt Commander and it's way better than that old 45 warhorse. It's cool/it rocks/it rules! 9mm at 1,200 fps beats 45 at 800 fps any day! :D

Well, this post is sure to restart the undying debate of 9mm vs 45 ACP. Generally speaking, the 45 is more reliable in the 1911 than the 9mm. This is due to the 9mm being a much shorter round and the 1911 works best with longer rounds.

    Greeting's Friend's-

Ya'll lnow that I'm predjucied towards the .45 ACP; but
I wouldn't feel out gunned if I had to rely soley on the
9m/m; especially if fired from my West German SIG-
    SAUER P228! :D

If you gonna beat a dead horse...
Don't leave it out in the sun.
Might have to eat it later.

    Big G...
    I am ashamed of you.

    I found a cure(s) for the 9mm v. 45ACP

    Remove the "v." ;)

    I carry both sometimes
    I carry another caliber......38spl/.357
    Still can't find a good conceal holster for a 12 ga, or a .308/30-'06...when I do tho...

No one has ever been killed by a 9mm. I'm certain that enough research will prove that those that were believed to have been killed with a 9mm were actually shot by a totally different caliber.

What a novel idea for a post! I wish I'd thought of it.

Let me see, one's bigger, one's faster, energy's about the same, one holds more, one has more momentum. One is the post popular military pistol cartridge in the world, the other served brilliantly in the U.S. military for nearly a century.

It seems that there is a wealth of differences and information to discuss. Why hasn't anyone posted anything like this before?

I think I'll also write to my favorite gun rag and suggest that they write a few articles on the topic. If they insist on paying me, I'll split the money with you BigG.

How about we design a new cartridge, the 9x45?

    Oh no, not again

This is the dumbest debate on a gun forum rearing its ugly head again. Please no more. Moderator lock this up now.

BigG, please maintain proper respect for the old .45 in 1911. Everyone please hold off those many ballistics comparisons always devolving into shot placement versus knockdown.

Allright, allright .45 and 9 mm are both powerful rounds capable of taking a human being out. And there are loads of rounds better and less effective.

Oh dear, I dont know what came over me. I was reading this stupid, incessant debate about some ongoing caliber war and suddenly I was overcome with disgust and rage...:scrutiny:

Besides, if they are out running your bullets, just get your phaser (oh, wait those havent been invented yet in this century...:scrutiny: :uhoh: )

You know nothing. You saw nothing. You heard nothing. Now take this apple struedel and go to your barracks Sgt. Schultz.

    Big G,

If I didn’t know you have a great sense of humor, I would swear you are trolling . . . well, maybe “mini-trolling†within our community.

    Best regards.

Those who start these threads will end up being Satan's cabana boy.

Nothing against 45 (One of these days I'll get a 1911, really) but I just added two 9s to the stable today. Traded my Sig P232 towards a Springfield XD9 subcompact and a Hi-Point carbine.

    New toys! woo hoo! :D
