In CCW sized guns (so usually 4 inch barrel or less), what is the realistic difference in Lethality between these 3 calibers. I ask myself this question occasionally, so I present the same to to you all, basically.....

In what scenario or situation would a 9mm not kill, but a .40 or .45 would?

What can a .40 or .45 do that 9mm cant? Like for example, three 9mm HP's to the heart, vs three .45 HP's to the heart, what's the real difference?

The only thing I could think of is the rare "the bullet missed your Aorta by 0.1 inch scenario" or something like that. What's your take?

The science I have seen is that there is no major difference between hand gun cartridges. The difference between pistol and rifle is huge. There is a magic speed around 2000 fps where tissue damage is much worse.

Thanks, you 3, for actual responses to the question. Just wanted to see what people think.

Their point is, this exact thread comes up about every two months.
It always settles down to "with modern JHP ammunition, they're about the same. So shoot what works for you."
And then goes for another half-dozen pages of "but but but obviously..." and "this study says X" "but this study says Y"

So I'm just going to stick to Line 2 here.
