Wow.......I was going to shut this thread down as one that has been repeated over and over. Larry didn't though, so who am I to do so?

Sure, what the h3ll, go ahead, get one.

Get some handcuffs, too.

Who's the chick in boy-drag?

(Boy, if that wisecrack doesn't get it shut down, nothing will.)

Very bad idea :barf: i don't think anybody wants to carry one of those. let's leave the fake badges for the kids. they'll love them and drive you crazy at the same time, trying to arrest you. lol yes i got kids :p

Perhaps having one pinned next to your holster in the off chance that you accidentally flash your gun would cause the uneducated to not immediately call the police

I think you'll find that the people who pin their badge next to their holster "accidentally flash" their gun at every chance they get.

I think that might be projecting

I think you might find people that consider this are more likely to just be afraid of the consequences for accidentally flashing and/or are new to CCW

I think you will find that a lot of these people making up these ridiculous reasons for not using the badge have their own issues

Much like those idiotic bootleg "Calvin Peeing on X" stickers, I would see a CCW badge as a way for a person to identify themselves as someone I don't wish to associate with.

I think in one of the 50 threads about this topic, the best answer to the question was something along the lines of, "...makes a good target."

Tell me, Dr. Freud, what am I projecting? My subconcious worries about being found out? Or perhaps I'm trying to hide my inherent attraction to cheap shiny things as a result of being raised by a mixed foster family raccoons and ravens?

Really? I think you'd more likely find they want to be mistaken for cops. The first time I ran into a CCW badge was about 10 years ago. The guy said he clipped it to his belt next to his gun in the event his jacket opened up, people would think he was a cop and not freak out. This guy also carried handcuffs and drove a surplus white Crown Vic with the spotlights and extra antennae intact. No chance he wanted to be mistaken for a cop, eh? Ask around a bit. Chances are you'll find that the guys who carry one of these aren't trembling newbies terrified of their own shadow seeing their gun. They are mainly posers who want to be mistaken for cops.

The reason to not have a badge is due to lack of good reasons to have one, full stop. Not a single pro-CCW badge person has formed a real argument for carrying one that isn't based on the idea that you may be mistaken for a cop and therefore treated differently. You even said yourself that you can't think of a good reason to carry one, but for some reason you feel the need to bash the various reasons not to carry one.

You seem to be awfully quick to declare everyone else has issues. More projection, Sigmund? Sometimes a bad idea is just a bad idea.

While I have no editing skills, I feel obligated to post this one I made for the sheep dog pin thread.

I keep picturing a couple Mall Ninja types flashing their badges on the end of a chain like Wayne and Garth at the Alice Cooper concert.

Those things are just plain ridiclous. Having said that. I don't think you will ever get charged with impersonating just for carrying one of those. You would have to do something else like verbally claim to be an officer or try and pulll someone over by flashing it. Or claim police powers while displaying it.

Bright shiny badges satisfy my inner Magpie.

With mention of some who think just having any ol' badge gives them powers of arrest, it necessarily brings up the issue of Citizen's Arrest which I've brought up before in other threads. Being a CCW licensee in your respective states neither augments nor diminishes a citizen's authority to make an arrest when a felony is committed in his/her presence. No fake badge will augment this right/responsibility. A citizen has to know his/her Rights and what the limits/legalities are regarding making such an arrest because a private citizen cannot use any more force than a cop can. And you must be sure it was a felony that was committed.

Oh, and the Elvis picture... IIRC, he'd gotten into badge collecting. And there was that one time he'd gotten drugged up and got loose from his handlers and flown to DC and visited with President Nixon. Seems Elvis got it in his head that he wanted to be a DEA agent, so Nixon got him a badge and got their picture made and everything.

Xavier, Dude!

That's just mean!

:D

Of course, you could have one with a big red bullseye target that says CCW carrier, too.

"SHOOT ME FIRST! I HAVE THE GUN!"

Oh --

And the Mall Nija badge? Priceless.

You should carry an unchambered Glock along with the CCW badge.

Do you recommend a CCW badge for wife and/or girl friend?

Do I need an OC carrier badge?

Should I put my CCW badge in my fake Ayoob recommended toss away wallet?

Maybe I should just tatoo the 2nd Amend. on my forehead?
