Now you are making me feel very old, but I thank you for the memory!

And I am off-topic for this thread.

Regards,

Jim

I'm pretty old myself.. And, I loved the days of buying from "Ye Olde Hunter" delivering firearms to our door..

I have a Herter's 4-12 on a Sako .222 Rmag. ;)

I always enjoyed Herter's "what we sell is the best" attitude.

IMO, us old timers need to share the good old days of firearms and shooting with younger people who never experienced the same freedoms we did.

It's a very handsome pistol.
It has an action similar to the popular Palmetto Wesson rifle except scaled down to pistol size.
I found some examples of the original and Palmetto .45 Wesson rifle that used to be sold by Dixie.
It's hard to believe that any of them are still available new.
The rifle was made by the same maker attributed to your pistol.
The product page description states:

Manufactured by Palmetto. Reproduction of a rifle originally made by J.P.Foster of Bristol, Rhode Island. A very high quality target rifle crafted in the American tradition with case hardened frame and furniture.
Double set trigger and walnut stock. Blued steel octagonal barrel 74cm (29inch), overall length 114cm (45inch). Comes complete with false muzzle and bullet starter. --->>> https://www.henrykrank.com/guns/muz...on-percussion-muzzle-loading-rifle-45cal.html

For comparison, there's some reference info. and photos about the original and reproduction Wesson rifle in this thread in posts #3 and #11 : --->>> https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/repro-wesson-buggy-gun-45-caliber.313676/
