A custom built 1911 or not?

The way the slide is cracked makes me wonder if someone actually fired it. . . that's terrifying in light of those "locking lugs."

There’s no requirement for it to be a functioning gun for the turn in? Wow, seems $100 is a bit much for that.

You've shown us the 'before' pics. We'll wait for the 'after'.
Nope. Yesterday was the first time I posted it. There will be no more pics due to it has already been chopped up and melted down. :( When guns are turned in on the gas for guns program or other gun buy backs, they are checked to see if they are stolen. if they are stolen we contact the owners in an attempt to return the gun. Every thing else has to be destroyed. It's a shame because a few nice guns get turned in.

That's funny. But a Glock Hatter has to hate.;)

Sadly they do.
Some of us don’t like Glocks for the odd grip angle but we accept that they have a loyal following.

But there are fanatics who would actually say that poor 1911 is better. So sometimes the hatred obstructs the ability to think.

Personally I don’t care what gun someone owns as long as they’re on out side. Seeing this I’ll have to add that they’re safe. Too bad we can’t give guns like this to the bad guys. Opps better not say that as the thought police will get me as bad guys seem to have more rights than us now.

Anyway normally I’d be upset to hear that a gun was destroyed but if that was unsafe and beyond saving I guess it’s good that it’s gone

I agree with the Viet Nam source.
Before the Viet Cong, there were the Caodai.
A religion founded in 1926, its followers had anti-French and anti-Communist ideas and had to be ready to fight. Hence, the Caodai Pistol.

Another possible original source would be the Philippines. They have something of a cottage industry in hand-made 1911's (of widely varying quality).

Custom built 1911 with some patina*, pictures to come, ending soon

*sold as is, no refunds

Gunny,
For a 1911 it is just fine some CLP, Remoil or WD40 a couple a good mags (Brownells) and 230 grain ball ammo.
It will shot better then a SIG P210.
