1.) What is SHTF ?

2.) How man FFL holders do we have in MD that are willing to do purchases, transfers, etc. ?

3.) Is it worth getting an FFL for friends and family considering the cost, paperwork, investigations, etc. ???

Any info is appreciated.

Andy

1.) What is SHTF ?
"Crap Hits The Fan" (I won't use the first word, even if it won't pass the filters).

It can mean anything from major riots and temporary loss of order due to civil disturbance or natural disasters, to full societal collapse, to invasion, to whatever the person citing wants it to mean.

I don't know. As bad as MD gun laws are, we have a fair number of dealers. For a list of FFLs (dealers and gunsmiths) willing to do a transfer, the auction sites usually have a list. Just call before you assume as the info might have changed. Check auctionarms.com or gunbroker.com For sales, either do an internet search or check your yellow pages to find dealers in your area.

I'm not even sure if you can get an FFL if you don't plan to open a retail operation. Some years ago under Clinton the rules were changed to try to stop "kitchen table FFLs".

As far as getting your FFl to sell to friends and family, its a major pain in the rear. A close friend just opened his own store, had to have a buisness location before he could get his license. To be competative with the bigger stores he has to take REALLY small profits. He tells me the only reason he can see to have a FFL, unless you're opening a big store, is for the discount on ammo.
