I took my SAI M1A SuperMatch (set. # 013xxx) to the range to sight in yesterday. I had had the action out of the stock for the first time in the 32 years I've owned it, to inspect and clean, so I wanted to get this rifle back in match form, seating the action in its bedding. After sighting in with irons, I fired a ten-shot string off the bench at 100 yards on a 200-yard reduced scale target with 1979 vintage M80 ball ammo. I surprised myself with a 99-4x. I wish I could do this offhand:

I'm going to put on my Bassett Machine low Picatinny rail mount and put one of my scopes on this rifle next. The last time I had a scope on it, almost 2 years ago, I was getting 1" 5-shot groups at 100 yards from the bench with my match loads (41.5 gr Reloder-15, 168 gr SMKs, and WLR primers, Winchester .308 brass):

I'm a fanboy of this platform all over again. I'm going to get some 30mm Weaver rings and put my Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP on it...can hardly wait to get set up for the next session at the range with the scope.

:-D
