I recently purchased my "dream rifle".....which is a custom reworked Rem 700 .308 by Ga. Precision. It took me quite a while to save up for the rifle & components, which my wife could never seem to comprehend my want or need for it. Mainly because my Dept. provides me with a precision rifle for my job......but I wanted MY OWN RIFLE.....how hard is that to understand?? LOL!

Anyway, I went out to a large open field today with some friends to collect some scope dope on the rifle at longer distances....500 & beyond...I shot at a metal silhouette target from 700 yards & also a small melon we found growing in the field.....It took a few rounds to get my elevation dialed in including the windage, (which was a bitch at 700 yards in an open field!!)...

My last five rounds were split up between the silhouette (4 rds.) and the melon....(1 round).....I was estactic with the results!!

    The new rifle....

It was a great day today!! :D:D:D

Nice looking rifle, and pictures. Any more particulars on the scope? Shooting long range is a great way to spend the afternoon. Enjoy!

A Police Officer friend of mine recently recieved his new department issued $6500 rifle. Said they were custom builds, complete with cans, Leupold MK4 scopes, said there like shooting 22s. The top shooter in his group, put 20 rounds of Fed 168 GMM, into a dime sized group at 100yrds. Talk about jealousy:p Wish I had your field to shoot in!

The scope is a Lupy Mk4 4.5-14X with the illuminated reticle. My other rifle (the Dept.'s Rem 700PSS) has a 3.5-10X Lupy Mk4.

Damn! Sounds like he's got a Tac-ops rifle or something! They run about $5000 & are guaranteed to shoot .25 MOA groups with factory ammo at 100 yards......Damn!!

Nice! We got our sinper rifles recently, and our snipers said they were disappointed, gonna have to ask if they'd like one like that!

my favorite part is the shooting rest. love the chevys.

is that a mcmillan stock on it? curious what ammo you used also. any term used for that kind of camo job? because it looks super sharp. did you do it or ga?

nice rig, congrats on finallly getting what you want! i know what thats like. i need to get a field like yours too.

I had to stand in the back of the truck, because the weeds in the field were too tall to allow for a prone or even a seated shooting position.....so it was pretty fun...but shooting off a roof top gives a little bi-pod hop.....

The stock is a McMillan A5, and a buddy of mine painted the rifle using the "stretched net" technique......it's a great paint job! I was using the Factory Hornady TAP ammo in 168 grain.

Wow, awesome rifle! Great shooting :what: . My brother’s property has a field but it maxes out at 350. I wish I had another place to try 500.
