This incident was reported in my local paper today.

Saturday, June 5 2004 Central Kitsap Reporter

    A gun, a knife , and a hug

Police responded to a call regarding two drunk men, one with a shotgun, arguing loudly in the front yard of a residence on Central Valley Road at 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 27.
The two men began to wrestle and fight after an argument erupted, when one of the men, the 29 yr old resident of the home went inside and returned with a shotgun telling the other man that "he needed to leave now".
When the man took the shotgun away from the suspect, the suspect pulled out a knife, but then threw it down and hugged the man, and told him "the fight was over".
The suspect was arrested and booked into jail on a second-degree assault charge and was later released.

    end of story.

I guess all is well that ends well!

Was this in the sun? I saw nothing of it. Perhaps it was in the CK paper.

    Habu;
I dont remember seeing it in the Sun. This article was in the "Central Kitsap Reporter".
Its small local newspaper that is only circulated in the central Kitsap area. Sometimes the stories are the same as in the Sun, and sometimes they report on stories that the Sun doesn't.

The guy pulled a knife on someone who (a) was able to take his shotgun, and (b) by definition was then HOLDING the shotgun?

Need some chlorine in that gene pool.

LOL, I kinda wish I could have seen this. Knowing that no one was injured, the visual was probably good for a laugh.

Sodium, yes, he was charged. Look at his actions:

He was outside, unarmed, engaged in a fistfight.

He retreated inside. At this point, to avoid being charged, he should lock the door and stay inside.

Instead, he picks up a lethal weapon (well, maybe two) and goes back outside to threaten his unarmed opponent, who allowed him to retreat, with a deadly weapon.

That's why he's being charged. Being on your own property gives you a lot of allowances, but it's not a hunting license in most states.

That sounds like a bad story on "The John Report".

This is why I rarely get drunk anymore, and on the very rare occasion I do(maybe 2X per year), the guns all get put in the safe and the key goes over to my parents for the evening. In fact I'm getting to where I hate being defensless much more than I enjoy getting all tore up.

After getting through the hangover stage, I go get the key back.

This way, nothing like this would happen with me. Plus, I get mellow, not angy when drinking.

'Sides, booze money could be bullet money, eh?:D

That's how I feel anymore. When I go out to dinner with my girl I find we go to restaruants that don't serve alcohol b/c I can't carry in places serving liquor. I'd rather have my gun than that Miller Lite with my meal. My friends just don't understand this though.
