Hi yall, I just moved to Florida and nearly almost moved to Texas as well and have a topic i bet would grab everyones interest on shooting ranges. It seems to me that most americans own lots of guns more than any other country on this planet but when it comes time to shoot them there is EXTREMELY LIMITED PLACES TO SHOOT THEM and EXPENSIVE . So we have a 2nd amendment thats suspose to grant us rights to bear arms but no place to freely practice in a convenient economical way for marksmanship, safety, efficiency which renders most people in America with firearms useless in these fields. I on the other hand have come up with a solution for nearly every American that i think would have the support of every gun owner in this country . As of now the term exercise your gun rights, is laughable because most Americans dont have a convenient close place to where they live to shoot them. Its like saying we have a right to buy a car but not everyone can afford the gas to practice driving extensively and/or also the Practice Driving Range is a Pay Range and also its a distant drive from where you live. That in itself is Preposterous So i actually attempted not once but twice a letter to my Representative in Florida for the Central Florida district i live in since moving from Pennsylvania and in my opinion my free speech was trampled on and was limited to 500 words in my first letter of 3500 plus words on the matter and then to a shorter follow up letter which was trying address my complaint of limited free speech in the 1st letter, and my most post went over the 500 word limit again at 607 words. REALLY! !!. SO I WANT YOUR OPINIONS AFTER I TRY TO WRITE MY LETTER NOW AND YOUR THOUGHTS ON IF I SHOULD TRY TO WRITE TO MY LOCAL CONGRESSMAN AGAIN . Basically the letter states that im looking for a Law that would Pass Mandatory Allocated Tax Dollars in every possible local community for our local governments to be forced by law to build shooting ranges in every possible community for all Americans using tax dollars. I mean all it would really take is a bulldozer to move some dirt. AND I BET WE WOULD HAVE VOLUNTEERS JUMPING FORWARD TO DO THE WORK, So that the American People can actually practice with what is our Right To Bear Arms and not let our Fireams become useless in the hands of ill-Trained Americans that own them but cant even hit the broad side of a Barn for a lack of a better analogy. This is EASY INEXPENSIVE SENSIBLE LEGISLATION THAT ALL LEGAL AMERICANS SHOULD SUPPORT AND CAN BE PASSED. AND IF IT DOES, Like i said, We would have volunteers with bulldozers lining up nearly everywhere in this great country to help. Most Americans right now have to drive a good inconvenient distance and many of us have to PAY!!!, PAY SOMEONE Money!! Thats rediculous in itself beacause our second amendment gives us all our other liberties. We as americans should not have to pay anyone to practice marksmanship to defend this great nation if ever it came to that senario. It says a well regulated militia. That would mean Training and equipment equal to our goverments arsenal locked up in armories in every local comminuity kept on hand at the local Sherriffs beck in call in case of Tyranny ect... for American Citizens to help our country out if ever in need. All im asking for is a place for every legal American Citizen to practice and shoot our( un-equalled to the governments firearms) right to bear arms accurately. Money or inconvenient travel should never be the reason of burden for most americans to practice the most important RIGHT in our Constitution. Im starting to wonder if our government has alraedy thought this through and actually likes the fact that most amercians our unsatisfactory in firearms training. This should be on the ballet box in every local community so we can vote on it ourselves instead of letting our government who THINKS they know whats best for us American Citizens when it comes to firearms. The local gun club here near orange city, Florida wants $400 a year to shoot!!!!!! Im broke!!!!! Thats preposterous! !!!!!! I feel any complaints to diagree with this may be TREASON............. TREASON I TELL YOU.... Lol.............Still lol........

I bet if we all tried to guess how many Legal U.S Citizens own guns ...... Then try to guess how many Legal U.S Citizens actually can shoot them in a marksmanship way .. The REALITY OF THE RESULTS WOULD BE SHAMEFUL and EMBARRASSING .!!!!????
You all have a right not to be marksman so dont practice if you choose not to. Its your choice.
But let every Legal U.S Citizen without a Felony make the choice for themselves. .
Please help all americans Shoot Better, Safer, more Efficiently. .. Thanks to all who took time to read this very important post.. Write your congressman. ...Maybe yours gives you more than 500 words to have free speech lol... There should also be a tax write off for all Volunteers that help out in every Community in the Law/Laws that im proposing to my Congressman as well...This letter is really about asking you all not if you disagree but if its worth the time to even write to my Representative on the matter considering how little words they allow me to use to explain myself on this important matter and if i actually could shorten the Letter enough to make my point, Would they actially listen and respond to me or send me some Automated Response that just thanks me for my concerns and then just Blows me off??? Without this law i propose i would guess 3-7% of the popupation are properly trained with practice, and 93-97% are not even close. Just a guess? That is pathetic and we as a Country need Trained Citizens now more than ever and all im asking for is a law that lets you have the Freedom to practice for free locally so we are Responsible Citizens that can actually use the firearms which are Constitution grants us or else what the heck does it even matter that we have a Second Amendment if you cant even use the Firearms in a manner that's Efficient, Effective, Safer, Which renders most americans with firearms neary Useless. THATS UNACCEPTABLE and we all should support this.

Lets back up and look at this without the flags and drums. :)
You want to mandate a tax to force local governments to build shooting ranges. I am assuming you want a federal tax, since you want this nationwide. Ok. First rule of a proposed law - see how badly it can be misused. Say you get an anti-rights Administration and they say, sure, we'll keep a tax for ranges, but it will be 1000% on firearms and 1000% on every round of ammunition! This, BTW, has been seriously proposed already. Another venue for unjust taxation is not a good idea. Just because one jurisdiction is anit, such as Chicago, we don't penalize Phoenix, which has indoor and out door ranges all over the place.
Next, an expansion of both government employees and taxation to not just build these ranges but repair them, staff them, maintain the insurance on them - picture the VA in charge of ranges....
We have had GRANTS out from the federal level for range construction - my city took advantage of one and really modernized our free outdoor range. That would be better than mandating that such be built. Local lawsuits against places that refuse to license/zone ranges, such as Chicago, are the only way to realistically defeat them, plus defeating anti politicians at the state and local level. What COULD be done nationally is to state that ranges may not be zoned out of existence, that to exercise the 2A, ranges must be permitted, but don't mandate them or levy a tax, and remember any law that can do good can be twisted to do evil - look at what they've done with the Commerce Clause.
I understand your point, but there are always 12 sides to any issue.

I didnt write such a huge post to possibly allow loopholes to rip americans off. What you suggest could happen is real and open discussions like this definitely help expose potential anti gunner agendas. This is great to hear everyones pros and cons so that when we get them to pass something like this we've already had the discussions on the what if's, and we should of already thought of the worst things anti gunners could do and write the law so as to not allow any mischievous side affects of a very important piece of legislation. The examples i can give you would be ones like : look at how every company covers their ass when it comes to even the usage of an App, And if you dont agree you cant use their product or program. Same idea needs to be implemented to provide protections for this law to be straight forward, with no absurd provisions allowed written into the law .
So i really dont want yo hear that we as americans cant write a law, A simple law with extreme protections in it that can cover our ass with disclosures in it so we are not manipulated in any way with loophools. All the Companies THAT CURRENTLY CONTROL US NOW Do this on a daily basis. If i actually click no i do not agree on nearly every form that says you must agree to continue i would be living in the stone ages because i dont agree to let Apps use my mic or camera or whatever else there crazy rules are, so im forced to check the i agree box ALL THE TIME. If i get one response that says i didnt have to agree, Being a smart ass then your missing the point. Its basically a form of control. You either bow down and accept our terms or your other option is to check no and be in the stone ages isolated from society. Because you checked no i dont agree with you turning my mic on or my camera on ect.. Wake up America we can write a law just like these companies do to protect themselves and wtite the law" OUR WAY OR THE HIGHWAY". LETS WRITE IT SO AS NO AMENDMENT CAN EVER BE WRITTEN TO LESSON OUR RIGHT TO SHOOTING RANGES, ALWAYS FREE From A Tax and hidden agendas on this one. ect..
Common sense law with major non infringements in place. Thats the only way to create such a law of this geat of importance and magnitude. This law should be just as important as our Right To Bear Arms and not like your trying to compare it to normal regulations. PLEASE DONT TREAT THIS PROPOSAL LIKE OTHER PETTY LAWS WE HAVE. OTHER LAWS ARE NOWHERE NEAR AS IMPORTANT OF AN LAW THAN THIS ONE I PROPOSE. WITHOUT OUR 2ND AMENDMENT WERE SCREWED SO WITHOUT PRATICE WERE ALSO SCREWED. THEY GO HAND IN HAND.. SLAM DUNK BABY.....SO IF YOU FEEL IT NEEDS SOMETHING WRITTEN TO PROVIDE FURTHER PROTECTION FROM YOUR CONCERNS I AGREE AND LETS DO IT BABY...ANY INPUT TO WRITE IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME SO THERE CAN BE NO DISPUTING IT AS IT IS WRITTEN TO PROTECT IT FROM CHANGE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. ..always open only to suggestions to write the law so IT CANNOT BE INFRINGED UPON IN ANY WAY. OR ELSE YOUR RIGHT TO OWNING GUNS FOR MOST AMERICNAS WOULD BE LIKE OWNING A VEHICLE WITH NO GAS TO PRACTICE DRIVING....Thats ludicrous.....And in reality JUST A RIGHT TO OWN THEM WITHOUT PRACTICE IS NOWHERE NEAR ENOUGH TO DEFEND AGAINST POTENTIAL TYRANNY. AND YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY ANYONE TO PRACTICE TO KEEPNTHE MOST IMPORTANT RIGHT WE HAVE WHICH GIVES US ALL OUR OTHER RIGHTS AND LIBERTIES. . BECIAUSE THAT LEAVES ROOM FOR OUR DOWNFALL AS A FREE SOCIETY AND I DON'T WANT IT TO BE BECAUSE MOST AMERICANS WERE BAD MARKSMAN. How pathetic would that be if that was someday the reason that our country was taken over.. what a shame that would be for the reason of no training..
Its to easy to fixnthis problem so dont enable our society to not make this a mandatory law. We should embrace it so as to rule out any chance thatbpratice could ever be the reason of our downfall. THINK OF IT AS FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE AS OPPOSED TO LIABILITY INSURANCE. ......WHICH CAN RUIN YOU AND LEAVE LOOPHOOLS OPEN FOR POTENTIAL PROBLEMS. WHERE AS FULL COVERAGE IS( BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY) COVERAGE. THAT WAY NEARLY ALL LOOPHOOLS ARE CLOSED TO BEGIN WITH AND YOU LEAVE LITTLE TO NO CHANCE OF ROOM FOR TYRANNY TO EVER SQUEEZE IN.

Dont over complicate how simple my proposal is. Bulldoziers are about all you need, and a law on where they can start moving the dirt into mounds. This law is no harder to create than waxing your car to prevent sun damage to your paint ect..ect...AND over complicating it is going to potentially create more problems for us as americans, than to stand here and DO NOTHING.. I DONT WANT TO BE IN A FEMA CAMP BECAUSE OF ALL YOU ILL TRAINED FOOLS NOT BEING GOOD MARKSMAN. ..LOL..... STILL LOL......YOU BETTER SIT IN THE FEMA CAMP FAR AWAY FROM ME TO AVOID ME TELLING YOU ,YOUR ALL IDIOTS AND YOUR ALL THE REASON WERE IN HERE LOCKED UP LOL..... , BECAUSE IF YOU WOULD OF JUST LISTENED TO ME, AND PASSED A SHOOTING RANGE LAW FOR ALL AMERICANS TO PRACTICE AT THE LOCAL LEVEL FOR FREE, WE WOULDNT BE IN THIS MESS .....BECAUSE YOU WERE POOR MARKSMAN. HOW COULD ANY AMERICAN LIVE WITH THEMSELVES IF THAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED? IT SHOULD NOT BE A GAMBLE WITH OUR FREEDOM TO BE SO ILL TRAINED AS TO EVER ALLOW THAT SCENARIO TO EVEN HAVE A .0000000000000000000000001 % CHANCE OF EVER HAPPENING.I HOPE ALL SHEEPLE WAKE UP & HAVE COMMON SENSE..OR ELSE YOUR RISKING US ALL AS A NATION BECAUSE OF YOUR IGNORANCE AND YOU BRING DOWN WELL TRAINED PEOPLE WITH YOU IN NOT HAVING A FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE POLICY ON OUR RIGHT TO BE A FREE SOCIETY. AND SEEM TO ONLY WANT A LIABILITY POLICY WHICH HAS ROOM FOR POTENIAL TYRANNY TO PREVAIL .... WHY ALLOW THAT CHANCE IN THE FIRST PLACE? I JUST TOLD YOU I HAVE A FULL COVERAGE INSURANCE POLICY LAW THAT I PROPOSED . SO WHY RISK ANYTHING BUT THE BEST DEFENSE AGAINST ANY OUTSIDE THREATS TO OUR FREEDOMS..if thats not true patriotism to want all americans to have a right to free local shooting ranges so to better their marksmanship, Safety, i dont know what is??

Then only reason we dont have potental tyranny now is because of our guns..there always looking for a way with there modern technologies to try.. So imagine if we were actually well trained at our FREE LOCAL SHOOTING RANGES? That means we are prepared citizens that can resist potential tyranny easier. There are no if, ands, and buts about it..... WE NEED THIS LEGISLATION LIKE YESTER YEAR... FOR FULL ASSURANCE OF FREEDOM and to better our Citizenry to be competent marksman, safe, efficient, if they so choose. Are second amendment wasnt created for just hunting. Read our Countries history on our founding documents.SHAME ON OUR GOVERNMENT FOR GIVING US RIGHTS TO GUNS BUT Barely any local close distance place to freely shoot them. Would you give a kid a gun without any training? No.. So why not adults as well be trained properly? Common sense people..and many americans are poor and cant afford to pay Rip OFF PRICES AT SHOOTING RANGE CLUBS.. THATS PREPOSTEROUS. ....IF WE HAVE PAY TO SHOOT OUR FIREARMS .... WERE NOT AS FREE AS WE THINK WE ARE... ARE WE?....I bet our goverment loves the fact that many are ill trained with firearms or else would of had this law in an emrgency meeting in congress passed already. Do you really think im the only person to ever think about all americans firearm marksmanship abilities? Of course they have. And if not, thats pretty sad if they have never considered keeping the american citizens up to par on training by giving us all free local shooting ranges they we can access as we see fit for ourselves.

I always try to explain things with lots of details so people can understand my point as to why i have to pay 400 dollars at the nearest gun club just to shoot my guns and practice. To me thats just not right.I proudly stand for all americans rights. Im poor right now and want to shoot my guns at a local level for free and im sure many others do as well. What is wrong with that? So why exactly do you tell me i need to calm down and breathe? Please give a very detailed explantion on what is your problem with what i wrote to tell me me to calm down and breathe? Because i have an idea of why but dont like to make assumptions, but could have to with our NATIONS HISTORY that most americans are ignorant to? Who knows but Would love to hear your detailed response!

Ok, I admittedly didn't read everything, but the above statement isn't even in the neighborhood of something I can support. I've never shot at a shooting range in my life, I've been fortunate enough to live on large enough pieces of private land to be able to shoot in my back yard. I understand everyone's not in that situation, but that's not the point.

The question is why should I have to pay increased taxes for ranges I never shoot at.

If it's as big a problem as you make it out to be, then open a range undercut everyone's price and let the money roll in, free market capitalism.

PS, all the CAPITALIZATION tends to make people think your really worked up and may need to calm down. ;)

Yeah, I live in an areas with at least a dozen places to shoot in decent driving distance. It's hard to relate to this call to action. Where do you live that has no ranges?

What you are demanding exists. Pittman-Robertson excise taxes on firearms, ammunition, and archery equipment fund, among many other things, the construction of public ranges. I suspect the fact that you are unaware of this, along with your...writing style, may have hampered the effectiveness of your communications. Unless your Congressman is an Appropriator, your writing is essentially all for naught.

Information on Pittman-Robertson excise taxes and what they fund:

    https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...Isa4kRELlzh_NBNPg&sig2=QPGSiDEH1c38JJfyOLwuyw

You might be better served trying to solve your own immediate concern, regarding an accessible public range that is, by working towards an NSSF grant for an area project.

A bill to build additional shooting ranges using Pittman-Robertson funds was introduced in congress this year. It has bi-partisan support. Ask your congressman to support H.R. 788:

"The bill would use money already made available to the federal government through the Wildlife Restoration Act of 1937, commonly referred to as Pittman–Robertson after the two lawmakers pivotal to its passage. This 80-year-old law uses an excise tax levied on all firearms and ammunition sold or imported into the country to perform conservation-related tasks as varied as restoring elk habitat to funding safety programs and establishing public shooting ranges."

I live in orange city ,fl and there is plenty of room for a free shooting range but there isnt one!!!!it seems one of the biggest problems in this country is the divide of everyone caring about themselves too much and not the country as a whole. I bet most of the people who already have access to shoot for them selves free or not, dont take the time to see that most americans are poor and dont have free access to ranges. Even in P.A where i used to live i was fortunate to have a couple hundred yard range on my own property . But what if i didnt? It was still hard to find w place to shoot freely at a close distance.we need to care about everyones access to free local close distance shooting ranges. And not the mentality of i got my place to shoot ( my hook-up), and brag about how "you and just your buddies " got it on lock that you can shoot. Our founding fathers would be rolling over in their graves on most americans being denied access to free local shooting ranges. Just George Washington's quotes on tyranny should be enough to wake everyone up. He basically states that right to bear arms and training go hand in hand or we will fall as a nation in time. So step back and look at the picture at a better angle to you can see the real problem exists noone is talking about it the way i am. I URGE ALL TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOTS TO CATCH UP ON THEIR HISTORY OF THE FOUNDING FATHERS AND THEIR QUOTES ON TYRANNY, AND ALSO THE 2ND AMENDMENT. ITS SHOULD REFRESHINGLY SURPRISE YOU HOW ACCURATE I AM ON THIS MATTER, and i am very proud of not being ignorant like most Americans are on this very important subject in our times. If our founding fathers quotes dont bring you to a new perspective on this matter i dont know what will. But i cantell you we sit here free today in this web forum as free people and without our second amendment who knows if we would be so free? Because it gives us all our others freedoms as you will see when you start reading our founding fathers quotes as well as modern quotes from even some of our current elected officials , ect... ect...

    OK.

Simply write the entire US congressional delegation of Florida. Ask them to get behind existing proposed legislation aimed at funding the building of firing ranges. The bill is H.R. 788.

The answer is quite simple. If "WE AS A WHOLE", ARE NOT GRANTED FREE, LOCAL RANGES, THEN SOMEDAY WE COULD HAVE TYRANNY because of useless Americans holding guns that they cant shoot as marksman. If you selfish people cant see the potential guarantees of such a law then i dont know how you can call yourselves american. Our tax dollars used for such an important cause should never be questioned be its the reason we have all other freedoms. So if any tax should be accepted its the ones i propose. If its not Captain Obvious to you or anyone else that's just ignorance. Were not talking ahout the crazy things that our government funds like allocating money to study Sea Turtles. Ect.. and believe me the list is long of things they fund that are rediculous. We talking ahout a fundmental law to give each and every able bodied american a choice to go shoot at a free local range in close distance. Its like an iinsurance policy with full coverage against tyranny as opposed to liability insurance policy on tyranny because a right to own them isnt enough. No you say we should fund Sea Turtle studies. Come on man! Now im staring to undrerstand, with attitudes like yours, Why only 3% of our population fought against the british while the others did NOTHING. THIS IS MORE Important than nearly any law we have on the books now. It seems selfishness,
Which can be related to only caring about yourselves, Which in return is divide and conquer usually through ignorance. When your the last one left and theirs nobody left to care about what youcare about, Then guess what, Its already too late. Apply that concept to TYRANNY AND ITS ALREADY TOO LATE WITH THE THINKING OF MEN LIKE YOURSELF. WHEN THIS IS ABOUT OUR FREEDOM FOREVER AND NOT YOUR PERSONAL DAY TO DAY SELFISHNESS, WHICH I CALL PROUDLY UN-AMERICAN.THIS IS BIGGER THAN ONE PERSONS BELIEFS. WOW........Wevfund it because it guaranteesvour freedom with the least amountnof loophokes to ever give tyranny a chance, so that we can sit here now ,in a web forum, As free people snd do what we like. Withoutit we have potential to only be talking to one another right now from a fema camp. And then its too late. Because were already conquered by tyranny. Read our founding fathers quotes on tyranny, and 2nd amendment and un-ignorantize yourselves before its too late....

No alex jones, This is directly taught and learned from reading our nations history from: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Thomas Paine, Benjamin Franklin, and list goes on and on and on and on and on ect....How dare you question me with alex jones, when you should all already know my views are spot on if you were even a little up to par with knowledge of how this country and its beliefs were founded. The fact that you dont know this and spout off some b.s. about alex jones shows your ingnorance on being a real patriot and probably know more about who won the knicks game. Question me.. wow...iam not perfect but i try to live upto being a real american, always sticking up for all americans rights, even ignorant people like yourself. With all due respect i deserve, thank you very much..please dont sit next to me in the fema camps, cause youll give me a headache......and i might loose my voice from telling you its people like you that got us all locked up in the first place. Dont take it personal most americans think just like you. Selfish ...

It's because I'm a sheep. I have not yet been "woke". I tried to fight the man with fellow patriots, but it interfered with bowing league. Besides, if the government authority were so bad, then why do they give me money back on my taxes??

Lighten up Francis. Learn how to write and frame your arguments. Your posts are so difficult to read that it's almost pointless to try and figure out what you're saying.

From what I can make out, your argument appears to be "Oh my god! If we are not allowed unlimited free access to someone else's private property to use as we will, we MIGHT have tyranny sometime in the future!!!!!1111eleventy1!" And then if anyone disagrees with you, you attack them and call them selfish, ignorant, and unAmerican. I don't think you've even responded to a single person above who had a legitimate comment that might help you in your quest to have a shooting range built in your area.

You should do more research on the founding fathers. NEVER did they support the uncompensated theft of others property in order to allow the masses to use the property for their own purpose. That actually sounds more like Marxism/Communism. The founding fathers were classic liberals and espoused the virtues of individual rights, self reliance, and limited government.

I don't think anyone here would say that marksmanship practice is not necessary, but you need to figure out how to present your argument and not alienate your audience. If this is the way you wrote your congressmen, I'd be surprised if your letters don't immediately get sent to the shredder. I mean, hell, you can't even get gun guys to agree with you. How are you going to get someone outside our community to agree?

If younthink this is is unimportant thats your opinin. I am shocked that most cannot understand the points ive made are a real problem. Nearly every response to what i wrote is selfish. Like saying " i got my place to shoot(my hook up at my private range at my house or my buddies). And thats seems to be everybodies perogative. And you are very mistaken on how the founding fathers felt about tyranny. Back then they had way more access with limited red tape attached to shoot their guns. And now with exponentially growth in our congested cities its seems only people who get to own private property or have a buddy, or have money to pay a darn gun club money CAN SHOOT THEIR GUNS WNYTIME THEY PLEASE.
THATS WHAT YOU CALL SHELFISH FOOLS. The (i got mine who cares about you attitude) makes me ashamed of most people that argue against my ideas of rights for us all. Im not your enemy, im here trying to stir a conversation up on a topic i dont want people to forget and keep talking about so that one day we can have change for the better , Not fo

I would like to give some knowledge to the the ignorant. I cant believe most are critiquing my choice of words or whatever else and not the topic at hand. I have not gotten many responces that have actually been on the topic at hand just smart ass statements picking apart my appoach to free local shooting ranges and why there so important to our freedom. Come on now. As for one of you telling me im wrong about our founding fathers and others, their beliefs heres some quotes:
1)“If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin.”
    Samuel Adams
2)“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
    Samuel Adams
3)"If our nation is ever taken over, it will be taken over from within."
    - President James Madison
4)"All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent."
    —Thomas Jefferson
5)"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
    — Benjamin Franklin
6)"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty."
    —Thomas Jefferson
7)"Government is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is force; like fire, a troublesome servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action."
    —George Washington
8)"Overgrown military establishments are under any form of government inauspicious to liberty, and are to be regarded as particularly hostile to liberty."
    —George Washington
9)"Guard against impostures of pretended patriotism."
    —George Washington
10)"When once a republic is corrupted, there is no possibility of remedying any of the growing evils but by removing the corruption and restoring its lost principles; every other correction is either useless or a new evil."
    — Thomas Jefferson
11)"If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter."
    —George Washington
12)"Enlighten the people, generally, and tyranny and oppressions of body and mind will vanish like spirits at the dawn of day."
    —Thomas Jefferson
13)"I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations. -- President Janes Madison
14)"It is the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins."
    —Benjamin Franklin
15)"It is the first responsibility of every citizen to question authority."
    —Benjamin Franklin
16)"It is the duty of the patriot to protect its country from its government."
    —Thomas Paine
17)"The right of a nation to kill a tyrant, in cases of necessity, can no more be doubted, than to hang a robber, or kill a flea. But killing one tyrant only makes way for worse, unless the people have sense, spirit and honesty enough to establish and support a constitution guarded at all points against the tyranny of the one, the few, and the many.

JOHN ADAMS, A Defence of the Constitutions of Government
    18)
“Fireams stand next in importance of the Constitution itself.
They are the American people’s liberty teeth and keystone under independence.”
    General Washington

19)"Americans have the right and advantage of being armed – unlike the citizens of other counties
whose governments are afraid to trust the people with arms.
    James Madison
    20)
"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established,
should not be changed for light and transient causes; and, accordingly,
all experience [has] shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer
while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the
forms to which they are accustomed. But, when a long train of abuses and
    usurpations,
pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to
reduce [the people] under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is
    their duty
, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for
    their future security."
    Thomas Jefferson
    21)
"In the beginning of change, the Patriot is a scarce man; brave, hated and
scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it
costs nothing to be a patriot"
    Mark Twain
    22)
To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that we are to stand by the president right
or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public.
    Theodore Roosevelt

    23)
"It is in the interest of a tyrant to keep his people poor,

so that they may not be able to afford the cost of protecting themselves by arms and

be so occupied with their daily tasks that they have no time for rebellion."
    Aristotle
