I make all kinds of leather tack, and am stepping into the world of holster making. There seems to be a niche that needs filled, women who carry. Due to the wonderfull shape of women, they usually need to compromise and settle for a holster designed for us gainly men. I would like as many suggestions as I can get as far as wishes to aid in your carrying comfort. Like I know the biggest complaint I have heard so far is that most holsters cause the barrel to be pushed out by the hips causing the grip to dig in, yet the alternative hi-ride puts the grip nearly in your armpit. I am starting to lay out templates to have my cutting dies made so get your suggestions in.

At my website, look for the article titled "Straight Talk About Curves" which discusses the pros and cons of various holster designs as they work with women's figures.

In my opinion and experience, there are not enough holstermakers producing designs for appendix carry -- which is a very popular carry method among women who carry on the belt.

One of the biggest problems I have with IWB carry is that the holsters are too wide..not enough real estate. As Pax mentioned, I tend to carry appendixish as its the flattest portion of my body topped the least flattest, making a gun easier to conceal. I carry on my hip when use an OWB holster with no issues but its hard for me to conceal a gun there.

This bears repeating. Some holstermakers seem really fond of the "now with wings!" school of holster design. Doesn't work for me, and for darn few other women I know either.

Kudos PAX that is a pretty awesome site you have.

I also prefer the wing on my iwb's as it keeps the holster from shifting around . And if you reenforce it it can be bent to push the butt of the gun out a little bit.
