I just added a new addition to my family. I've always wanted a Rogers & Spencer but never got around to picking one up. It's one of those that always got continually bumped down the list in favor of Colts and Remmys etc. I have much admired them though and thought they were really interesting and neat pistols. Plus I've heard good things about the design improvements and have very much wanted to own one and shoot one.

Well, thanks to arcticap who noticed that I briefly mentioned wanting one in one of my posts, he generously offered me a fantastic deal on one he had picked up at an auction! I jumped to say the least. This one was made in 1984 by the stamp. I took her apart, cleaned her up and added new nipples that I bought from Track along with a little help from mykeal in determing the correct versions to purchase. The bore is perfect, bright and shiny and I don't think the pistol has ever been shot.

The Rogers & Spencer is a REALLY cool pistol and quite a neat combination of design improvements over the other brands and models of cap and ball pistols. Can't wait to get this old girl out and shoot her.

Took this quick picture on my phone with the Colt Army and stainless Remmy. What a fantastic addition to my .44s!

The R&S is my next-to-favorite c&b revolver (first place is the ROA). It's a very nice gun. I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Ahhhh, another convert, think you like it now, wait till you shoot it !! Congrats on your purchase from Mykeal.

I glad to hear that it didn't get whooshed away by one of those F4-F5 tornados that hit Indiana yesterday. All the more reason to celebrate and enjoy it! :)

I finally got the Rogers and Spencer to the range yesterday and got her warmed up!

What a fine pistol! I'm really impressed all around. The design is exemplary and I had no cap jams or stoppages at all because of it. The balance and feel is excellent as is shooting it. POI is only marginally high for me. I was shooting at 10 yards and POI was only about 2 inches from POA.

I put 54 rounds through it using home cast .454 balls, lubed wads, and 30 grains of Goex 3f. Replacement nipples worked great as always and are a must for anyone seriously into cap and ball pistols. Changing the nipples on your guns makes shooting them immensely more enjoyable. I've done it to every pistol I own going way back.

I was shooting offhand, two hand grip at 10 yards. Best group was about 2.5 inches when I really concentrated and held steady. Worst was about 4 inches. I have to say I really LOVE the feel and the way this old girl shoots.

Definitely moving way to the top of the list in terms of my favorite .44s. Yeah, I'm converted. :D

I alway's wanted one of those like the one Clint used in "Pale Rider" but am afraid of all the cylinder's firing at the same time. Still may get one.
