When I started back to school this year (not as a student--I work in the education field) it was brought to my attention fairly quickly by a couple of students that the new blocking software apparently put on over the summer blocked all sites having anything to do with firearms, hunting, knives, etc (keep in mind that our new internet connection goes through the local BOCES system, which spans the schools for several counties, so if its blocked for us, its blocked for all schools using the system). A week or so ago I sent an email to the IT guy protesting this on a variety of levels, not necessarily expecting my arguments to fall on anything but deaf ears. But I am happy to report that as of this morning when I just checked as a test, these sites have been unblocked! Score one for the good guys =)
